Rick, I am calm!
My son-in-law bought an electric blanket for my daughter recently. She's too hot with it!! But, there again, they live in total warmth etc!
I felt so cold in bed last night. So maybe an electric blanket is a good idea. As you say, I can snuggle-up without having to bother with anyone(except Pixie).
I shall bid you a 'goodnight' just in case I creep into my little nest soon. The kitchen was so cold tonight that I couldn't even bear to cook my dinner in there! Hope I sleep.
'Night 'Night, Rick.

Hi Polly,it suddenly occured in my one cell brain, that you were jumping off a wall to lock yourself in,yes warm hearts do get exploited, there are predators under every rock, yet stones can crush as well as hide, dont you dare waste a second feeling sorry for yourself.
Throw away your tissues and head up gal, knock 'em dead.R.

Thank you, Rick.
One problem with the blanket~~I will never want to get out of bed!!
I have just finished making 4 pass-the-parcels for tomorrow. Each one has 10 goodies inside, which meant having to wrap-upon-wrap-upon-wrap 9 or 10 times!! I should be doing a bit more to the angel costumes but I'm too weary now. I've just noticed some wood-worm looking holes in my old floorboards. If the cold and the damp doesn't ruin this place, then I reckon the wood-worms will.

Polly and Pixie Posted Dec 12, 2007
Don't let the wood-worms know that. They might scurry to my bed if they hear about any sudden warmth! That's wooden too.

I think I am probably too late but~~Goodnight Rick. Thank you so much for the blanket details. Yes I do need one. Even poor Puss is behaving oddly~I'm sure he is very cold. I can see my breath in here tonight!
'Night 'Night dear Rick.

Brrrr~~it's almost 1.30am, and I can't sleep!
I just wanted to say thank you again for thinking about that electric blanket, and for going to the bother of finding it in the Argos catalogue.
I've noticed tonight that there are huge gaps going into the loft where the beams are! Some of the gaps have been sort of hidden, but if one bothers to look, they are very obvious. No wonder that all my heat disappears. And some of the skirting boards don't even 'meet' the floor. I have no idea where those gaps lead to, but my heat disappears there too.
My daughter told me that my son-in-law is coming here on Sunday to look at the loft insulation, and to 'bleed' a radiator. But I'm afraid that that will do little good if I still have huge gaps everywhere!
I must get a thermometer, just to see what the temperature is in here. Below freezing, I guess! I'm worried about the water pipes.
Oh well-back to bed.

Rikiiboy Posted Dec 13, 2007
Hi Polly, unemployed or none workers can sometimes qualify for a home insulation grant, some of the individual items, wall and loft insulation can be a tad expensive.
Yet if you put your electric blanket on half an hour before bedtime it'll be like stepping into a bath of hot chocolate.
You also have a low setting where you can leave it on all night for a few pennies,N.B.dont forget to turn it off when you get up.

Hi Rick. I do have to work! I've been busy all morning!! In the little Wimborne journal, there was an advert about New Forest folk being able to apply for help with insilation etc. So I did! But I do not qualify.
Actually, I have just emailed my daughter and told here everything! It will upset her, I know. And that saddens me greatly. But even now I am freezing. My legs ache with the cold. It's horrid in here, so I shall get warmed up tonight in my friend's home.
I very much doubt that there is any cavity in the walls to take insulation. This building is about late 17c.
You are home early, aren't you? I do hope that you are warm. Take care this weekend. I fully expect the pipes here to freeze!
I am taking my angel costumes with me this evening, to Wimborne. I must have them finished by Sunday.
Polly
Thank you very much again for all your advice.

Rick, you are so kind. Thank you for the link. I shall read it later. I really ought to be washing the dishes and then getting ready to go.

Hi Polly,I guess you did get away from all of us.
Hope you made the deadline with all your angel costumes, enjoy the warmth where ever you are,the pipes'll be OK 'cause its perked up a bit(the weather that is, well at least it has here).
Me,well Im feeling a bit low (though not depressed, aint got time)I went to the docs a few weeks ago with cystitis he gave me some antibiotics but I've still got gut ache, after waiting a week for another appointment, yet more tabs, yuck!
Cystitis?yes very rare in men apparently(Christ!just give me a handbag to stamp on)
Yes.you've guessed it.
I could belly ache for England!

Polly and Pixie Posted Dec 15, 2007
Hello dear Rick.
Poor you~~cystitis is horrid. I have had it once-many years ago. I remember not knowing what to do for the best, so I drank lemon juice-thinking it was a 'healer'!! The pain was a nightmare! Stupid me!
Are you drinking lots of water? Bicarbonate of soda, with water, is very good. As is cranberry juice. Or you can get powders from a chemist. Or, if it gets too bad, do see your GP. I really do pray that you will soon be feeling lots better. Another very obvious preventative(pardon me for telling you!) is good washing 'down below'! I suffer from diverticulitis, and have become almost too clean! Change of subject, eh?
I got back home at 8pm'ish. I have borrowed an electric heater. Ah warmth! Bliss.
I have just finished putting the finishing touches to the angel costumes! There is yet again tinsel everywhere! And I have ironed the costumes.
What should I be guessing? That you are not a Christian(because of your expletive? ) Or that you like handbags, and, um, also like......??????? Not my business anyway.
Thank you for your funny poem that I read tonight. And thank you for this message. It's rather nice to receive personal messages~~even if they are about water problems.
A hot water bottle also eases the pain of cystitis.
I've got another blinking cold-very sore throaty this evening. Ho-hum.
Have you done all your Christmas shopping now? I haven't quite finished. I treated myself to a few things today! An M&S men's dark red jumper(they are much nicer than the women's jumpers[which are fitted and too short!]). And some navy cords(I love cords and wear them often).
I'm listening to Mendelssohn's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' on a CD. It is so pretty.
Are you not about tonight, maybe because of the discomfort? Here is a hug to make you get better as soon as possible.

Oh dear,me thinking I'd cheer you up and now facing charges of blasphemy
charges, what other names do you shout when in pain if not the saviour?
Ahhhhhhhhh well back to the drawing board.
N.B. electric fires are very expensive unless you have a pay as you go meter.

Polly and Pixie Posted Dec 15, 2007
My dear, silly Rick!
Ofcourse you cheer me up! Always.
The heater is one of those things that sends out hot-air if one wants. Convector heater? Are they expensive to use??
I must get a hot drink for my sore throat. You are silly thinking that I am enraged or something! But I shall overlook your annoyance at me.
Oh dear, I am trying to download something from an email and it is now making my computer very slow. Wish I hadn't bothered now!

Polly and Pixie Posted Dec 15, 2007
Goodnight Rick. I must fill my HWB in a moment. And I must get out another blanket, from the cupboard, for my bed.
I hope that you will be feeling much better tomorrow.
Another disco opposite, in the hotel. I must get my ear-plugs.
Sleep well.
Polly

Hi Polly, one of the finest treatments for a sore throat is the old soluble Asprin (BP)the one that goes cloudy and tastes like?just gargle with it,you dont even have to swallow it,especially if you've got dodgey belly syndrome.R.
Jumping over walls and suchlike!
Polly and Pixie Posted Dec 16, 2007
Hello! I shall put the soluble aspirin onto my Monday shopping list. Thank you, Rick. We are like a couple of old crocks with all our medicinal advice. But I feel very poorly~~earache, sore throat, sicky, headachey.
A lot warmer in here tonight due to a visit from my darling daughter, and her husband. Long story, although there are still a lot of things to be done here. In this corner where I use my computer, I can feel very strong draughts at times. I think that the traffic causes draughts, which go into my very old loft, and then it comes into my room via all the open nooks and crannies!!!!Crannies? No idea how to spell that word.
How are you feeling today? Still a bit under-the-weather? I do hope that you are on the road to recovering fully. Oh golly~it's Monday tomorrow. Where did the weekend go? I seem to have been at church for half of today(silly, maybe, as I'm unwell).
