Rick! Hi!!smiley - disco

The spinning head is still the same. smiley - sadface But I shall see my GP sometime this week. smiley - smiley

My 'ex' is my ex-chap(not husband!!). I realised why we fell apart whilst we were talking. I know you won't be interested in this, but he has a 'thing' about Christmas and birthdays! He hates them with a vengeance. He started to moan about Christmas, and then exploded!! smiley - yikes I stayed calm and kind. But boy! It was awful!!

Anyway.....................

Yes~~I have noticed the plural of damsel!! I'm sure that plenty have swooned.....! smiley - smiley

I shan't live for much longer~according to that adage!! I truly care for folk~~that is why I was so concerned about our 'Frankandsense'. I even mention him in prayer now.

You fancy a crocodile steak them? I'll stick to my beef casseroles. smiley - winkeye

Hi Polly, negativity is only recognisable because there's always two sides in love.

Yet,I genuinely do want you to recognise, the person you see in the mirror everyday is the only one in life you can truly rely on.GB.R.smiley - peacedove

Hello Rick.

Back to that Woman's Hour thread. I cried so much for that poor middle-aged man who had been playing cricket with his grand-son, and was virtually stoned to death by thugs.

My daughter works for a crisis team, and has to deal with mentally ill patients in their homes. I couldn't believe what she told me she is or isn't allowed to do if she is assaulted. It worries me sick. She is often alone with very dangerous folk! She tried out one of her allowed 'moves' for defending herself, that she was taught by the NHS, on her husband. He overcame her immediately! So much for self-defense in times of trouble.

Hope you've had a good day. I've done my back in this afternoon! I have been filling skirting boards yet again, and other affiliated tasks. Think I shall have to go to bed soon in order to lie down!

In case I do disappear, I shall wish you a good night's sleep, and a happy day tomorrow.

Hi Polly, sorry you're refering to such a depressing thread, but why should anybody who really hurts someone else whatever age the attacker is get away with it?

Anyway enough down talk, you've metioned your skirting boards several times now Im intrigued to know what you are doing to the gaps you think are making your cold abode worse.

Normally I'd use a skeleton gun and painters caulk to fill those type of gaps.

Still,I suppose you've been on your hands and knees and tweeked your back(ouch)anyway take care and give the floor aret foor a day or two,hot radox bath?smiley - ok

Hello dear Rick. Not CFM tonight. Local radio instead~~Radio Solent.

When you return, Rick, you must please tell me all about skeleton thingy and caulk! I've been using foam strips(cut them myself), and filler(horrid stuff). White filler or brown filler. The draughts come up through the floorboards, and around the skirting where it isn't attached to the wall!!!

Sorry, Rick. I thought I could catch you before you nest for the night.

Sweet dreams. smiley - zzzsmiley - zzzsmiley - zzzsmiley - zzz

Hi Polly, painter's caulk? its a tube of goo-ey stuff you by from D I Y stores, you cut the end off the tube and screw on the nozzle that comes with it,you then cut an angle on the end of the nozzle and place the (about a quid per tube) tube inside the skeleton /mastic gun(basically its a circular metal frame that a cylindrical tube fits inside) gun and sqeeze the contents into any gap that requires filling, lick your finger and press your now wet finger onto the applied caulk and smooth it (the caulking) into the gap/s you wish to fill)

I've got a metal gun thing! FOR FILLING, Mods! Actually, I might use the filler on AHL! smiley - steamsmiley - steamsmiley - blush

My back is dreadful! No more caulking, or filling, or sponging until next week.

Bed early for me too, tonight, methinks. Couldn't sleep last night.

Hello Rick.

Thank you for that link. I have just had a peek at it. I don't think I know where to start with this place. I had to put more foam around the outlet pipe(in the bathroom) on the back of the loo this evening! I noticed this morning that there were huge gaps between the pipe and the bricks or cement inside and outside!

I had to leave my door unlocked all day whilst I was out because I couldn't shut it properly(due to the damp making it swell). So, in desperation, I have just had to take all the insulation strips off from around the door. smiley - grrsmiley - grr This b...y place is falling apart.

I went to the coast this afternoon and had a long walk. The weather stayed dry whilst I was there. I did a spot of retail therapy too~~one rag dolly, and one silver bracelet. I needed to cheer myself up a lot 'cos I'm sick of all the things that are wrong here!

I'm just enjoying some mulled wine that I bought in Waitrose. Everyone is always so lovely in that shop. The bread man; the wine man; the man on the check-out till. They were all so lovely to me. smiley - wah

Have you had a brilliant day? How did work go near Preston?

Hi Polly,Friday up north was a very nice day weather wise it was frosty in the morning followed by a bright sunny morning.

Although when we got there(the lads and I) we had a puncture on our vehicle, still we carried on whilst awaiting the breakdown man(truck wheels are a bit too big to mess around with, its very hard to undo the wheel nuts etc)anyway we were back in Brum just after five pm.

Yet when we were travelling south we hit rain from about Manchester down and after that it never stopped(it had rained in Brum all day)it was trying to snow here from about eight thirty on Friday night, still nice here today.

Hows the back?smiley - tea

Rick, I am building up an amusing picture of you! I can see you in a 'truck' with the 'lads'! Do you put pen to paper whilst with your work-mates, and write poetry? smiley - winkeye Do they give you peace to write??smiley - erm
Do you read the daily Star/ Sun/ Sportsmiley - yikes??? smiley - winkeye

Is your truck actually a white van????

I'm only pulling your leg, dear Rick. smiley - hug

My back is pretty awful. I don't know why it is so bad except that I seem to be always doing daft things like pulling out the washing machine, or climbing ladders to inspect guttering, or bending low in awkward placed to stuff foam in holes!smiley - steam!

Thank you for asking though, Rick.

It might help if I could sleep at night. I go to bed tired and weary, switch off the light, and lie there for ages! Last night, I decided to get up and continue some sewing that I am doing for a Wimborne friend(a pair of curtains). I think it was about 3am when I switched off the light again. You were snoring by then! smiley - yawnsmiley - zzz

Care for a glass of warm mulled wine? smiley - redwine

Hi Rick.

I hope you are having a happy, relaxing Sunday.

And I also hope that you realised that my above post was all a joke?

My daughter texted me to tell me I had missed 'To Sir With Love' yesterday. I wish she had let me know at the time. I love that film. And she also said that she got 'The Jazz Singer' free in the Mail. I hope I haven't missed out on any other free DVD's this weekend. I bought the Telegraph yesterday and it contained a free DVD about 1977. It was really a waste of time(lots of poor footage).I've got very few DVD's.

Hi Polly, relaxing?cant do a lot here the sky's looked mean all day.
Is it me or is just that days like today just seem to sap away at the energy in my bones?
I have'nt a clue how long I'll have to wait for the scan Im supposed to be having.
I went to see the wife of a friend in hospital a few days ago,now she was about eighty, yet they(at the hospital)let her fall off a camode, now she has passed away(sigh)that was when it occured to me(knock, knock on this roomimous shell betwix ones spectacle holders)that the last view of this wonderous planet of ours for many, must be from a Morphine induced vision of an austere room with several heads gazing down at one in the most undignified position possible.
Anyway enough of the blues(unless you can put some in this battleship grey sky)bet you wish you has'nt asked about my "relaxing Sunday"as for the questions about the colour of our truck?
Its like a soft summer green.smiley - cheers
