Hi Rick.
I wonder if you are already tucked up in your little truckle bed! If you get to read this tonight(although it is now 10.30pm), do drive carefully in the morning.
I'm so sorry that you are still feeling poorly. Is it the same thing, Rick? If it is then you should be off to your GP surely. These things do make a body feel quite wretched at times. Poor Rick. Here's another get-well hug:.
I've got a horrid cold. About the 9th cold since moving 9 months ago. I am thoroughly sick of them. I'm never well!!
I've been trying to block up all the awful crevices here, where freezing air pours in! I've come across a major problem. I must tell my son-in-law. I'm seeing my daughter on Wednesday(if she feels up to risking catching my germs!).
If I am awake at 4 am'ish(I was this morning), I shall be thinking of you on your journeying. Hatfield. Hmm-unsure exactly where it is.
Take care. Sleep well tonight. And return here soon.
Polly

Hi Polly, sorry you're feeling so wretched, you really must put that electric blanket at the top of your want for Christmas list, dont be cold in bed else you'll never get warm in the day.
Find yourself a local Damart underwear place and buy some thermal underwear, mountain climbers wear these and they're cheap.

Hello again.
How did your day go? Was it freezing cold early this morning?? How are you feeling health-wise? Are you any better, or still feeling rough?
Thank you for the link.
I slept in my bed last night~and I was snug and warm. I have put more heavy blankets on the bed, and I rummaged in my suitcases for all my warm pyjamas. I used to know where everything was(re pyjamas in particular drawers), but as there is no room here for much storage, I have to keep lots of things in cases under the bed. So, I wore lovely winter pyjamas last night, and hugged the hot-water bottle in one arm, and Lu-Lu in the other.
I actually have several thermal vests from M&S. They are wonderful. I rarely feel the cold when I am out because I wear a thermal vest, plus one of my Australian mega-thick jumpers, a very warm mid-length coat/jacket, and woolly hat etc. I'm warmer outside than when at home!!
I have been busy this evening making a new curtain for the freezing kitchen. Yesterday, I tried to conquer all the gaps in this place. I constantly feel a rush of cold air where I sit with my computer! It's most odd. I can't locate it. I also used some gap-filler on the kitchen window.........
Ah-'I'm walking through the air...' is on CFM.
I love 'The Snowman'.
Glad you got back home safely.

Hello Rick.
I hope I haven't given you your cold! Do you want some medicine? I have got a really horrid chesty cough. I bought some medicine today, although they are pretty useless.
Your tummy thingy is a nuisance. It means that you mustn't over-eat, or drink, during the few days that you are at home!!
I shall be with my church family on Tuesday morning, and then I shall be at my daughter's home by mid-day. She is thinking of cooking a goose, or a pheasant! Should be interesting!! I shall be back by the afternoon of Boxing Day, if not earlier. Tomorrow at church we have our nativity play in the morning, and then 'Carols by Candlelight' in the evening. You are invited to both.
Um, I don't 'get' the joke!! Sorry, Rick. Jokes usually fall flat on me.
I have been doing a bit more of filling holes in the skirting and ceiling, with foam, this evening! This place just needs a lit match and it would go up immediately!
My little tree is lit (it looks so pretty), and I have put some tiny lights along the top of a bookcase. I am listening to Classic FM-lots of lovely carols. And I am about to open another present!! My friend, in Wimborne, gave it to me this afternoon. It is a bottle of Bailey's! Would you like some? Please pass your glass if you wish to join me.
By the way, what are doing on Christmas day? Do you have any family to visit? No need to tell me if you don't wish to.

Hi Polly,We've got two lads 30 and 24,the youngest lives at home and the other one will be down here on Christmas day with his new girlfriend in tow(all lovey dovey yuck!)we'll all eat enough to feed a small town then end up dozing about 4-30,if last years anything to go by.
Hpoefully it'll pass by smoothly and I get time to chill, the M,B's close over Christmas, why?there must be lots of none Christians at the BBC,no?

Polly and Pixie Posted Dec 22, 2007
Rick, are you sure that the MB's close?
So you have two sons! I miss my daughter living with me--but that is now a long time ago since she did.
How about you all go out for an afternoon walk? We shall be doing just that. And if neither my daughter or son-in-law wants to walk, then I shall go out on my own for a short coastal walk. I couldn't bear to stay in all day! I need to get rid of my pent-up energy or I find it very hard to sleep!! The rest of the day I shall sit and read(I know I have got a Bernard Cornwell book as one of my presents). Then an early bedtime.
Well, you are ALL invited to the Carols by Candlelight service tomorrow evening. And I shall be at the midnight communion, at the large Church of England that my home backs on to, on Christmas eve. That is such a special service. And coming out, at midnight, to the new Christmas morning, is extremely emotional for me.

Oh crumbs! What will I do over the new-year period?! More walking, and filling-up of gaps in this stable that I inhabit!
Thank you, Rick, for the info. Oh well, I shall just have to keep reading! Maybe throw a party? Or visit friends. Strange how we (I) tend to become dependant on the MBs!! The cyber-family! At least we can spend all evening with our cyber-friends, then go to our beds without sharing duvets etc!! What more can some of us wish for!!
In case you disappear soon, Rick, I shall bid you a 'Goodnight', and truly hope that your tummy gets better very soon. It's actually snug in here at the moment, but the kitchen is another planet. Utterly freezing. It's actually about 8c tonight in there(I've got a thermometer). It was much colder the other few nights though.
Blessings to all your little family.

Sleep my angel
Just float away
May all your worries
Be gone today
Sleep and realise
All your dreams
Float away tears
Till radiance beams.

Hi, dear Rick.
I hope you didn't slip up on the ice!! I didn't realise just how icy it had become overnight until I walked to church this morning. It was scary ice!!
I've had a brilliant day. This morning was lovely at church. I was there from 9.15 to 12.30.
A friend came over from Wimborne at 1pm, to give me a Christmas present. We went to Waitrose in Lymington for some of my food. Then tonight it was the 'Carols by Candelight'. Rick, it was such a happy, happy evening. The church was packed, and very warm. I did a reading too. I have been home about half an hour-8.55(was there at 5.45). It was s wonderful evening. It is a gorgeous church, and everyone is delightful and warm and loving. I never want to come home from church!
The buffet after the service was so huge. My 2 Wimborne friends came over for the service and they were amazed at how lovely everyone is.
As you can see, I'm on a 'high' at the moment! My church family is so important to me. I get very liitle love anywhere else(except from my daughter).
Have you got work tomorrow? Or are you free now for a few days? What will you all be doing for Christmas? Are you all staying at home?
I think it is time to have a glass of Bailey's!! I have to put it into delicate wine glasses because all my little glasses have never been unpacked! I have nowhere to now put them.
What have you done today? Have you had a lazy day, or an eventful one?
Lots of love,
Polly

Rick, I forgot to thank you for that rather lovely poem!
How is your tummy? Are you feeling any better? I'm beginning to feel very weary. It has been a very long (but very happy) day. I'm almost ready to fall asleep! I have a few things to get sorted before the morning.
So, in case I don't bump into you tonight, I do wish you a restful night's sleep. Sleep sweetly and soundly.
Goodnight dear Rick.

Hello Rick.
Have you been busy today? Work or last minute Christmas shopping? I've been very busy, and still should be! I've got lots of things to wrap, and I'm out all evening until after midnight(a meal near Lymington, and then midnight communion here in the village at the large C-of-E church. We don't do that in the Baptist church).
So, just in case I am too weary to visit H2G2 tonight, I want to wish you a wonderful Christmas~~with joy, peace, and love. Have a super time whatever you all are doing. Did you make a 'wish list'? I have never made one. All I ever desire is to see my daughter happy and content. That makes me very happy. I'm sure that, as you too are a parent, you understand the joy we get when our children are happy. My daughter's life is very different to mine, but she(as well as all of us) needs warm love, and happiness.
Dear Rick, may all your Christmas wishes come true. May God bless you and your family.
Lots of love to each of you. And a special Christmas hug to you from me.
Polly

Hello dear Rick.
I am so glad to have read your message just now. I'm sort of crumbling!
I'm happy for you that yesterday ended well. But I'm sorry that it all started a bit wrong.
I had a wonderful day with E&A. They picked me up at about 11am, after I had been to my own church for a very happy little service. From the word go at E&A's, it was champagne or Bucks Fizz!! Their home is so beautiful, cosy, and warm. And I didn't do a thing all day. I had been going to take myself out for a walk but my head was bad from the late night that I had had, so I stayed in all day. Plus it rained heavily at times.
We had a very different dinner than we normally have. E cooked 5 Poussin's. They are delicious(they often eat them). We had roast potatoes and roasted parsnips. And a cauliflower and broccoli cheese. It was so yummy with the meat. We didn't have pudding until much later in the evening~~and then we didn't want the Christmas pudding. We had Tarte Citron instead. And lots of 'nibbles' all day. But the best bit was just being with my beautiful daughter and watching her being a wife, and great cook, with A.
I was made to watch Dr. Who(haven't watched it for many years), and some game show, in the evening. I actually thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Who!! Then we watched To The Manor Born. And then I went to bed.
So it was a lovely, lovely day. E has to go to work today(she's on a crisis team). So she brought me back at 9.30am. I have put all my things away, had tea and mini mince-pies. And then stood and cried. And cried! It all gets too emotional for me. And I miss my long-gone loved ones--Mummy, Daddy, John(my brother). I miss them so much, Rick. Mummy loved her Christmases, as did my brother. So all my past memories come flooding back. And it's lonely at this time of year when one is on one's own. There will be many, I know, who have absolutely no-one, or no food or home.
I might go for a walk later, or visit a friend. I'm very weary, so I might also close my eyes for a little while.
Rick, thank you for sending me this morning's message. I hope you all have a happier day today. Because mine was so happy yesterday, I'm sad, and tearful, today!
Take care. The Times usually has a jumbo crossword in it today. That's good company.
Many warm wishes to you and your family.
Polly
