Reality Manipulator Posted Nov 11, 2003
Hi Moose, Smudger and Roadkill I hope you are all keeping well.
When I was at college the computers at least once a month would crash, losing my work. They did tell me how to make a back-up file but when they told me I could not understand their explanation. They gave a very quick and brief explanation just as class was ending which we had to write down very quickly.

All it involves is saving a copy of the work that you don't wantto use to another computer disk.

Oh right. Got it.
I have very few crash problems myself. Lucky I suppose.

Thanks Z for the explanation as I did not know what the tutor was talking about.
Roadkill when I was doing any computer classes the tutors had a habit of half explaining things and doing it in a very hurridly way. They seem to always do it before the last 5 or 10 minutes before the class ended.
Star Trek The Next Generation is on now on Skyky 1 (it started at at 17:oo), I do not know which repeat they are showing.

Oh I hate it when people do that. And when you ask questions they either explain it worse than before or look at you like you're stupid or both.

What ho all. In case you're wondering, Terri and I are still alive (and so is Yoda although she sometimes seems to exhibit a death wish when she persistently yowls or sits on my head when I'm trying to sleep).
We've been out of view for a while because of various internet problems, chief of which being that, having moved flat, we have a new phone number and the modem doesn't recognise it. We could be away for a while, but I am able to borrow internet time at the atelier (as I am now), so any non-urgent messages can be transmitted to Terri via my hotmail account.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you and hope to resume normal service one day.
Cheer'o,
spim and Terri and Yoda xxx

Hi Spim, Dont worry we all know about these probs . BTW I just make up a disc and put a copy of all my work on it, then I will always be able to locate it if required
One dvd size disc can hold a LOT of info

Yes, nice to hear from you spimcoot, & get an explanation, we'd have been a bit concerned about Terri's whereabouts! But such things happen, eh? C'est la vie!
Hello all! *waves* Great that you've got that saved smudger!

Bubble here ! So sorry I havent been around to chat, Dads health has worsened and a few other major life events have kept me from home and my computer! I have missed you all so much. Abbi thanks for our chat, really did help.
Terri and Spim, was getting worried that I might not get a chance to speak to you before having to return to Spain. I hope your line comes back soon! Would be lovely to catch up, and to here about your new home of course, congrats by the way!

Ah, Bubble! (hmmm, for Bubble...nice 'ring' to it! ) Was really wondering where you'd gone. So sorry to hear about your Dad's health! My Dad's is ok for the most part (as far as I know), but he has got a touch of Parkinson's & certainly isn't the vibrant, vigorous Father I grew up with. But then, we're all older, aren't we?
