Clive, you're the expert on manitfestos... I think we need a manifesto for the community...
I'm just trying to come up with the best ideas before I take it to the towers?
My suggestion would be a fully publicised commmunity index, but I don't want to just speak for myself. I want the Hitchhikers guide's input in to this!
Whaddaya think?

Traveller in Time with an excellent idea for the soapbox

ahahhh, The rise of Middle Management, don't it make you feel Sooooo good, they are in charge of something to which your not part of, but your responcible to make it work, but its not working!
The PRoFaNNy filter + a small memo and then just implamented * reactions ignored = middle management

We need to get back to how it was a couple of years ago when the real sense of community was here. h2g2 has split in 2 reciently the guide writers and the chatters, I am a chatter more these days as the EG has taken an ugly turn IMO, those that come here to meet up with friends, have a laugh, sound off about something in the news and other things not connected with the EG are being looked down on and made to feel unwelcome and that is turning people to LJ and other blog sites, the Italics aren't helping matters by ignoring concerns of the rank and file members (The FannyFilter) how can you take things seriously when those in charge act like the children they are accusing the members of being

BTW I'm not sure of the ins and outs of the profanity filter. If I swear does it get starred out, or does my post just get automatically yikesed?

Traveller in Time repeating part of the first announcement thread
"If your posting is blocked by the filter, you get to a page like when you pressed the preview button.
Above your writing is in clear bold words:
This message has been blocked as it contains a word which other users may find offensive. Please edit your message and post it again.
Nothing is posted to the site until you change the offending character combination. Note that starring parts of the word out also will trigger the filter.
Character combinations not blocked by the filther still can be yikesed if the contents is found offensive.
With some of the wordings the italics apparently reduced the treshhold for yikesing. "

Traveller in Time with an unexpected angle
"Not announced, but as also Entries have to pass the filther. Not only a problem for the Thingite Roster, The Post, Researchers Updating Entries in Review but also for the Curators.
Not to mention about half a dozen Researchers in trouble updating their Personal Space.
The problem is not that the submission is blocked, more that we sometimes not have any clue about what is blocked. "
