What can H2G2 do for me?
Reefgirl (Brunel Baby) Posted Apr 23, 2006
I was as surprised as anyone when I got it though the post.
I don't think that that those who work within the community get the help they need, when I ended up with the Post Editors job, one that I didn't particularly want,I got little or no help from the Italics, in fact all I got from Jimster was a load of verbals bordering on abuse. I didn't particularly want to tell him where he could stick he Post as, out of a misguided sense of loyalty, I wanted to keep going. I do appreciate your help in my hour of need Terran, truly I do otherwise it would have gone under, but my time in charge of TP was a thankless task, even to this day I've never recieved so much as a thank you from TPTB for keeping it going. There were days, like now, when I wonder why I bother.
Terran I'm willing to scream and shout for Fiction recognition if you are. (I'm writing yet another Atlantis FanFic as a favour for a friend on another site)

I have a t-shirt. (pub quiz) And a mousemat, oddly, given to me by Abi U281 when I was broke through security and stole into the towers themselves....
Moxon once bribed me with a pint if I promised to stop kidnapping him.

It is amazing what a little thing like can do for community involvement. It is an organ for publishing which *isn't* the edited Guide.

Yeah, I'm still involved even tho I have nothing to do with publishing it anymore, it's the only outlet for all pieces that don't conform to requirements for the EG

The underguide is like labelling somethign 'officially rebellious'. It won't fly off the shelves fast enough!

The Guide supports The Post which supports h2g2 Storytime.... The Guide supports the AWW which hosts the Fiction Central link on its page...

"The Guide supports The Post which supports h2g2 Storytime.... The Guide supports the AWW which hosts the Fiction Central link on its page..."
The Guide wouldn't have existed without the kind of people who write for H2G2 Story Time, for Fiction Central for the AWW...
I just want to see more attention for these vital parts of our community, before I do anything else

"Terran I'm willing to scream and shout for Fiction recognition if you are."
Thanks Reef I'm not even sure its about shouting. Sometimes that doesn't work either. We need to find a way to drill home to the people in charge (who funnily enough most of the people here are on speaking terms with! I've had a respectable number of friendly conversations with Jimster - mostly due to Doctor Who!) that we need more support for the community.
If thats difficult, then I would be more than happy to be integral in helping them out, but we need to know that we're supported.
They are reasonable people (to the best of my knowledge) and I think that they will do whatever is within their power. But if we're not telling them, and possibly making dramatic examples (which I appear to have become infamous for ) then no one will take notice.
We need the groups to have more prominence. They need to be properly supported. As I suggested a LOOOONG time ago we probably need something like a proper group index as part of the h2g2 guide. We also need to bring back community editors.
At the moment we seem to have a lot of jobsworths doing jobs that were mean't for paid employees... with due respect. And I think that needs to be sorted sooner rather than later!

Ironically, if you read the dna hub guide to building communities, The Thingites get cited as evidence of "trivial" clustering.
A787160.
I'm a trival clusterer.
