DoctorMO, do you know any Java experts? Because I'm probably going to need some help in the very near future.
By the way YS/Prexy, I was wondering (talking about ground zero), are they planning to do anything as a mark of respect on September 11?

Ah, yes we marked it remeber?
I was serious Prex, What you think you know, you may not know!
Java isn't my field yet, because i've never had to get into it (Perl) and it's very messy with HTML.

Sorry MO, didn't mean to offend or anything.
YS, aren't you sweet.
and yes Broadway runs through Times Square. Now that Disney has bought most of it is not as dangerous as it used to be. I have been there many times drunk as a skunk and never had any troubles. St. Pattys day 99 or 98 can't remember but that was the best day ever. I had no money in my pocket but drank from ten in the morning to six in the morning the next day. at ten that night we when fron The City (NYcity) to our local pub on Long Island, The Half Penny Pub and partied all night.

Oh, and Terran I love the addition to my name! When I go out of town in a few weeks, I might get you to make up some story about me going off to fight the Orks of Gondor or something.

I've just been looking at the basics of Java (though my best language at the moment is C. I'm also good at QBASIC, but I don't think that counts). I've just spent two hours, looking at a load of programs, Applets, and text which all boil down to two words - "Hello World!".
I've done it all before, but I just need to get it right in my head.
*Ah that feels much better*
Oh, and I've done perl, but I doubt if I've done it to your level yet? I still haven't really got my head round pattern matching.
Anyway,
Terran

I'm sure there will be a huge 9-11 fuss, and probably a national memorial that will turn into a holiday for some unknown reason. They are also planning to build a huge memorial on the spot sometime.
NYC is probably a lot safer for a young man than a young woman (allthough any one who tangles with me is gonna get a handfull ).

Hey, Shoal, here's the Guru answer to our problem last night:
If you get them to email [email protected] with as many details as they can remember, such as User number and email address, (preferably using the same email address as the one they registered with), they'll help them with their details!

Doc MO,
I'm having difficulty with a newbie's problem, can you help? The researcher is FilteredWater and is on the Welcome, FW from your ACE thread on my or her site.
Not to mention I am STILL trying to function in the Terranic army while slowly BLEEDING TO DEATH.
thankyou.

Sorry, didn't mean to miss you out Shoal in my last message. Well now we've got someone called strider in the Army then you can probably say you've fought side by side with strider (or Aragorn). Though please don't go on any chat shows with the title "I became a Major in the Army on the internet".

Yeah... right now that's great for me. But I know once college starts in a year I will have little, little time, and will probably have to resign my ACE hood. Smoke 'em while you got 'em, I guess.
Today was so great because I spent 2 hours in the public library doing research and reading. I can't stand not being in school. I'm even auditing Spanish classes at the highschool I work at. Right now I'm reading "Reviving Ophelia" about the psychology of adolescent girls, and a bunch of natural healing stuff, some jewish cookbooks, and a John Grisham novel. (I have to read at least four books at a time.)
I also got out some Dr.Suess, Maurice Sendak, and a bunch of fairy tales to keep me simple and happy. I'm having story time with some neighbor kids tomorrow... I get to introduce them to Shel Silverstein's "The Giving Tree". Very cool.
Calm before the storm, I'm afraid... I hold auditions for the touring drama troupe on Monday. *sigh* I hate choosing between kids.

I think I'm a learner... if you are talking about education in the scholastic sense. I always enjoyed school (public, private, or homeschool)... but I'm one of those kids whose folks dropped her off at the library for hours to hang out and read for fun, and who is on the guide to learn new things and make me study new things, and look at life more closely. I was always encouraged to not just think some thing was "cool" but to find out about it and learn how to do it on a basic level at least.
That is probably why I know some illusion (magic)tricks, some puppetteering, some politics, some music, some dancing, because my parents were never in favor of spectator living. The things I really get interested in get more disciplined attention.
Though I think higher education is good, I think people (especially over here ) hide behind it, and let it think for them. I also know "uneducated" people who have more sense and know a great deal more about life, the universe, and everything than some college professors.
I have been looking forward to this college because it's 1/2 apprenticeship, I will be applying things I learn directly. Also it seems to me that to be respected in America you need a degree, and I know there is so much I can gain from education.
So to answer your question... if I got married, had kids, and couldn't go to college right now... I would still be perfectly happy. Because I would still be learning. I wouldn't be bothered about the lack of college education or a degree (allthough they might come in handy for a housewife). So I guess I choose learning.
Yankee-shoes.

year, I envy your parents, they sound very dedicated, I mean my parents loved me and all I just wish they shared some of my interests, including learning. I didn't even know what a libary was until I went to high school. and for me I felt let down. A degree is what counts her too. (if you want to say, 'look at me I went though an education', it's like the classed corperate strugle. I'd just like to sit down to a good book, rather than both with pettyness. I think the only hands on skills I have are cooking, engeneering and a bit of art. sorry I some times get into a bit of a rant
