Welcome to the Guide! Glad to have a bona fide DNA fan on! I'm just finishing up some Dirk Gently for the Umpteenth time.
Have you discovered the Thingites yet? There is a link to their manifesto on my personal space... feel free to check us out!

Thanks for welcoming me. I was just looking at the 'Thing' day page, and my worries about looking a bit mad in here have been thrown out the window, have fallen fifty foot to the ground, gone through the floor, and are now currently on their way to Australia. To be honest I could never get the hang of Thursdays either, but I'm not sure about changing the name of the day though. Wars have been started for less, I mean if they did manage to change Thursdays to 'Thing', then some one else would want to change it to 'pop' out of respect to the great popadom, and you could end up with 'Thingites', 'popeyes' and 'Daysies'. Maybe it might be better to get rid of Thursday's altogether, have a four day working week and just add a day in the middle of the weekend, and call it Saturday 2 or something (maybe 'something' sounds better). Anyway I'm sure Arthur Dent is very proud.
Oh and I read a bit of your page saying that you play the guitar. I'm a bit of a guitarist myself. Just out of curiosity what does a Chief Subliminator of Thingite Espionage actually do.
Anyway thanks for posting a message,
Terran (or Steven for short)

Yes, I have been playing guitar since I was fourteen. It is my very favorite thing. Right now I'm on a flamenco kick... but only right now... I change genres every few minutes.
A Chief Subliminator (clumsy combo of Subliminal and Eliminator) Supposedly through subtle inference, mild amusing violence, and general ruthless espionage, takes the message of the Thingite to America and Beyond. (Basically, I hang out in the Boardroom of Evil, Plotting and General Mayhem, usually by the mini-bar... currently we are throwing waterballoons filled with Napalm at Saddam Hussain ). It is my purely for fun thread that I indulge in, seeing as I'm such a peacenic in RL, the senseless violence and frequent near-death experiences are thrilling.
Noworkday is a GREAT idea... I'm only keen on the elimination of Thursday myself...
Now that I've revealed myself as a total, unreedemable geek, I will relax.
Where are you from? What do you like to do?

Rivkeh Yankee-Shoes... bashing about the BoE again Posted Aug 27, 2002
Okay... I feel stupid... just realized BOTH of your sites said where you fellows are from. (nice picture by the way, MO)
Anyway... what DO you do for fun and work in Britain? *Quickly fixes up a couple for her guests, tidying up a bit, and making sure she has some other beverages on hand* I've always wanted to pop over the drink myself and have a look around.

Hello, sorry to enter the conversation a bit late. I had this uncontrolable urge to sleep (though this may pass, as I am very quickly becoming addicted to this place). I Currently work in a place called Knowsley (DoctorMO or green citrus fruit DoctorMO, may know this place a bit better given that Runcorn isn't that far from here), and am actually at work now, typing this out when I should be working. Oh well....
Anyway thanks for the kind offer of , I could do with one about now.

I'd love a borbon!I think. What are they?
Computer people. Hmm. I struggled learning guideml because I have never done anything on computers until this last summer. I hung out with a bunch of 14 year old guys (my friend's younger brother and his buds) who made me play "Fallout" for around 15 hours straight.
It is SO easy to get addicted here... there's a support group somewhere.
The good thing, is someday I may come over and visit, and then I will have people to show me about.I am planning to go visit the New England states over here, but my traveling mates want to go overseas. The thing is, I have never flown, and I'm not sure how I will take to it.

It is disturbingly addictive in here. I probably need to go cold turkey for a while (I've only been here a few days!). By the way Flying is a bit like sailing (just don't look out of the window).
DoctorMO - are there any corners for programmers on here (I've probably passed one already, I just need some direction), I'm doing Java in my degree.

I'm not afraid of flying... just never done it. Always up for an adventure!
BTW, if you have AOL Instant Messenger, I'm on as Tweedmusic. My middle name is Tweedlbug, and I love music, and somehow Tweedlebug was already in use... go figger.

You can go to the Programmers Corner (link on my space) and join up there, personaly I'm C++, Visual Basic, Assembler and Perl CGI and all the others such as HTML RTF ect..
The adictive nature eventualy goes away as it becomes what you do for living

There are definately roaming animals where I work. I'm a Learning Assistant (basically a part time job which means I help people who know nothing about computers, or stop people doing what they shouldn't be doing - this is basic In a Learning Resource Centre). Some of the kids who come in definately resemble animals, in at least one quality.
If your thinking of the Knowsley Safari Park, thats not very far from me, and I used to know a few people who worked there part time.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction for the programming page, I knew I'd seen it around, I just couldn't remember where.
How long have you been on here by the way?
Your turning into a Penguin, Ford, stop it!
Terran Posted Aug 27, 2002

*Huddles in the corner with amazed at collective programming prowess in thread, completely lost*

Made insensible by lack of sleep... hey, is there anyway to make this conversation a pop-up if I'm on Brunel?

If you don't sleep long enough and I'll apear to pop right out of the screen
I can't stand Earl Grey, I don't mind the other flavoured stuf. and normal tea is nice.

Why thank you! I'm going to be online forever later, trying to find out how to get a packet shipped to the U.S.! Well, then I'll keep my Earl Grey and break out the stuff my missionary friends brought me back from China... very good robust flavour (in my unschooled Yankee opinion). My Uncle tried to teach me how to fix proper English tea... so my cup is better than any around here, but of course I have no point of comparison.
refill? anyone?
