I lit the candle, released the balloon and then said a little prayer for Hypatia and Frank.
and for Hypatia.
You've been in my thoughts most of the day.

My room is full of the scent of vanilla and, like Z, Hyp and Frank have been in my thoughts for most of today.

We have a storm here, too. So we decided to keep the balloon in the livingroom. Also we've lit a candle for F. May he rest in peace.

I had the candles lit. It was a lovely clear and fresh morning. I stared at the candles and listened to the sounds of birds.
Still thinking of you, Hyp.
PS: Toccata, you did get my details correct.

Teuchter Posted Dec 22, 2004
The red star balloon was released in my back garden as I looked up at the moon and said a prayer for Frank and Hypatia.
It's a very mild night here in Hampshire with a light breeze coming from the south-west.
The balloon initially got caught in a tree - but was teased through the bare branches by a couple of gentle zephyrs before floating up, up and off across the field, into the sky.
I thought of you all and was very glad to be part of this.

There was a very strong wind here, so it whipped away very fast. I suspect Frank would have liked that.

LL Waz Posted Dec 22, 2004
The wind was fairly strong at ground level here. The moon was shining through thin cloud so I watched the balloon head high and north and thought of you H, and Frank, and the words Pan suggested.
Take care of yourself H,

It was a strong wind with a clear moon; I had three silver balloons with snowflakes on them, tied together and labelled. They whipped up and away into the moonlight and over Leeds very quickly, and I watched them until I could not see them against the clouds.
The strength and glory of your marriage with Frank has been in my thoughts all of yesterday, Hypatia.

A scented candle lit last night and took pride of place at the centre of the mantlepiece amid the decorations
Outside the wind was strong but surprisingly warm and dry A comfortable wind for thoughts of Frank to be carried on
Thinking of you.

We had the same weather as Teuchter, which is not surprising. All went well and I too thought of you both, Hyp.

Watched balloon sail off into a surprisingly tranquil sky over London. Had a bit of a panic in case it snagged on the ariels, but all was smooth in the end. Thinking of you both.

The balloon went up and away - as much away and up due to the wind, but did clear the trees - from the Tivoli gardens a little early (as we would be in the theatre at the exact time and couldn't "park" the balloon in there).
But free it was indeed - and with it our kind thoughts (Mrs SG V was assisting)!

I'm glad the service went so well.
We got a baloon with flowers and 'you'll be missed' on it. It was cloudy but dry here and quite windy. The baloon whipped away, bobbed over the wall and went zooming off north-east and up a long way before it was out of sight. We also lit a candle which we left burning till we went to bed.
