All of you know I am an Inspector Morse fan - big time. I notice that our PBS network is showing "Inspector Lewis" next Sunday, with Kevin Whatley reprising his role. I was just wondering if any of you UK folks have seen it and if it is a one off or a series or what.

And in this vein, our PBS station is currently airing a British comedy called "My Family". I've only seen one, but you can bet I'll be tuning in next Saturday for the next one! Love British comedy.
Hmm, wonder if I might be part English???? smiley - smiley

Wo Hyp

Without giving anything much away :

Lewis was a one-off TV drama made by ITV and shown on British television on 29 January 2006. A spin-off from the successful Inspector Morse series, with Kevin Whately reprising his character of Morse's sidekick Lewis, the drama was written by Stephen Churchett, with Morse creator Colin Dexter in a consultants role.

It was announced by ITV that the pilot would be turned into a series of four two-hour episodes, due to overwhelming viewing figures for the pilot, in the area of 11.6 million (46% of the audience share). ITV aim to shoot the series in the summer and have it out before the end of the year.

Shame I found this on Wiki though...

Thanks Pin. I'll take a shot at wathing it. If the production values are as good as the Inspector Morse films were, then it should be good entertainment.

Wiki is annoying. smiley - erm

Gosh. I thought it was just a one-off. It was fairly good, I thought.

Since you mention Wiki, have you seen The Onion's main story this week? http://www.theonion.com/content/node/50902

I am not going to rant about teenagers using Wiki as a source for school reports.

"I am not going to rant about teenagers using Wiki as a source for school reports. "

Seems a bit harsh, even if the kid doesn't know how to do proper research.

Aye, I've actually used Wiki for Uni stuff before (largely to fill in cracks that the books sadly omitted, admittedly). One of my tutors even plugged it to us at our first tutorial as a good source of knowledge.

... Though with H2G2 here, I now wonder if I should plug this to him next time I see him. :3

If any student mentions wikipedia, I tend to agree that it's useful, but that they must, must *must* verify their facts.

Never mind school kids using wiki, we've had two (count them) trainees on our sort-of-post-grad course referencing the dam thing.

The mildly irritating thing is that while one of them failed the componant because what he'd said was, well, wrong, the other had actuallty found some useful stuff.

But really.

You mean they actually cited it as a reference? smiley - headhurts

Not only do students cite Wiki, but some teachers are stupid enough to accept it. I am amazed at the acceptibility of iternet sources on research papers by the high school teachers here. There are still some who absolutely insist their students use print sources, but they are dwindling. Teachers should realize that whereas the information on the internet may be accurate, there are no checks or standards like in the print industry. A lot of the stuff is pure garbage.

Some internet referencing is fine, depending on the site and its 'trustability' level. I can *almost* see wiki being acceptable at high school level, but certainly not at post-compulsory levels. smiley - cross

But it's so easy to go on the 'net to find information. smiley - tongueincheek
