I'm a bit young to remember '60s stuff, I wasn't born till '72. But my parents listened to a lot of music when I was very young, and my father does even still. Fortunately, we have lots of "older" friends (most of K's bandmates are in the early to mid 40s, and some of our friends are in their '50s) who've helped nurture the fondness for the oldies.

First band i ever saw was Hawkwind, at Top rank Brum.
Then Lindisgarne at Bellbrook, got chatting to Alan Hull, very tasty!
Then Led Zep of course (Odeon Brum)

And since then i have never looked back really; i suppose i am still somewhat ligger:groupie: roadie: unofficial biographer & caterer to the stars really. Still love it all!

I was saddened that I never got to see Deep Purple, but did see Richie Blackmore's Rainbow and Blue Oyster Cult, when Q turns up from Star Trek and takes me back to the 60'sI'll catch up then

I was born in the sixties so didn't get to enjoy all the sisties music. My hubbie did. He used to go to free festivals at stonehenge wearing a white afgan coat. He was into the heavy rock stuff and has got Ozzy's signature from way back when. I'm usually into gentler types of music, but did enjoy watching Queens of the Stone Age recently. Currently listening to Johnny Cash whilst at work (my father's influence).

Blackmore's Rainbow, now there's a blast from the past. For a few months a while back, I was being haunted by Blackmore and by Ronnie James Dio... everytime we turned on the radio either Dio, Rainbow or Deep Purple was playing...

It's a running joke between K and I that I can name *any* hair metal tune in three notes... especially funny because I *loathe* the stuff, but it's what a majority of my high school classmates listened to.

forget the headbanging, I've gone and banged my left kneecap up, with kneeling on it too long while constructing my daughters drawer unit, can hardly bend my leg and oh the ouch etcample amounts of Deep Heat rub, its a case ofand bear it

As for me, I should find out within a few days if I will be promoted to the other available Executive Assistant position (supporting the accounts payable department) or not. If I did get it, it could be a salary increase of up to $11,000 a year. I could *really* use that.

Meanwhile, I've decided to see about going with a debt consolidation plan. It'd bring the monthly payments down from $600 to $200, leaving us $400 more for playing with. I'm sick and tired of paying high interest rates. Sure, we can handle the payments, but why should I pay 30% interest if I can pay 7%? (Of course, if I get the promotion, it means nearly $1,400 a month more to play with... I like the sound of that! )

And that is about all of the news for the week thus far. Keep fingers crossed Re: potential promotion. couldn't hurt!!

Very good for you, doing debt management. Once you are out of the money hole you never want to go back because it feels so darn good to have that weight lifted.

OOOH Animal; which knee is it? If it's the right one that's buggered, we should strap our legs together & do a Zaphod Beeblebrox impersonation. Certainly start a "hooters with boloxed kneecaps" society.Don't worry about the hair, you can have some of mine, i saved it when i got it chopped last week, honestly they won't know the difference.

My representatives from the staffing agency were already here, and I'm to have a "formal" interview this afternoon or tomorrow morning with the HR manager and the Chief Financial Officer and Controller (heads of accounting department). So, there is hope that things will work out! I'll let you all know as soon as I do.

Meanwhile, thanks for the good wishes. It never hurts to have friends pulling for you!

It would feel good to have all $16,000 of credit card/hospital/student loan debt paid off in four or five years, instead of paying interest out the nose and taking a dozen or more years to get it paid off. I'm calling tomorrow morning to see what kind of monthly payment can be arranged.

And K thinks we're almost done paying off the car note. Yay!!
