Ive only been on 5 mins to check messages and its doing my head in Blinking error pages just wont leave me alone..

The DVLA are trying to fine me for a car that I have not TAXed, But I sold ages ago

They say that I was the owner when the tax run out, but I had sold it to a *friend* and he said he would send the log book of, but he didn't and now they are chasing me.
I have not seen the friend for ages now.

My dad had the same problem a good few years back. but i cant remember now what came of it.

If it was really a friend that possibly makes it harder.

A long time ago my father sold a car to someone (rather than there being garage trade-ins). It was probably done by advert and there didn't initially seem to be anything obviously dodgy going on. He passed on his copy of the sale information to the DVLA as required. Obviously the other person didn't - through ignorance or because they must have been dodgy after all. We only found out they hadn't admitted ownership when the car was apparently then involved in a serious accident somewhere. The DVLA presumably completely ignore or don't give any credence to the sellers information because the police came looking for my father (though I think I was the one to take the first call). That did get sorted out to the police's (dis)satisfaction in the end though since my father didn't go to prison. Being in a relatively public position of authority and visibly somewhere else at the time may well have had something to do with it.

Being visibly somewhere else at the time might of been the thing that did it

The problem is they don't have to prove that I did have it, I have to prove I didn't, which is harder to do

I can't realy get any Witnesses to say they did not see me drive it

the law bites some times it realy dose they have invented so many ways of tricking people to get money(fines)from them

i was watching bbc 1 news i think it was the goverment minister for transport admited car drivers suply them with the most revinue and get the least back from it

and im waiteing to be done by a police camera/speed van so i can tell them there breaking the law a sign 1and a half inshes tall and 3 footsteps away from the van is not alowed it should be down the road to give drivers enough time to slow down like static speed camera`s

im sure some one will say"your not meant to speed any way so whats the difference"
that is not the point it is blaintent intrapment by the police and there meant to uphold the law not break it to meet targets or fine drivers becouse the met is skint that week

I sometimes think they go after the car driver cos there is no detective work in it,

you either have or haven't got tax, you either have or haven't got insurance, you either have or haven't been drinking and so on.

They don't even have to stop you now, they just send you a letter one day and then you have to send them some money back
