Negative side of being single:
No one to give you a back rub when you've got cramps. Ouch!

I've got one of those bean bag things that you stick in the microwave, but I could do with two of them.

Hello
This afternoon, I found a new plus to being single and it's this:
Going through the accommodation listings in a newspaper and, whenever you come to the words 'No Couples', even though it's well out of your price range anyway, you get to go: 'Pah! That'll teach you!'
It's not much of a plus

I've never heard of that before I had to lie one time when renting a flat here over the summer hols and first bit of my thrd year at Uni, 'no students' but 'no couples'

I could understand "professional couple only" but not "no couples". What happens then if a man and woman move in as housemates, then realise after a few months that they should have been getting it on all this time?

It was double bedrooms in shared houses, basically - looking to rent to one rather than two people.
Having been there and done that (shared houses with couples), I do sort of see the point: you get two people using up two peoples' worth of amenities, fridge-space and all the rest, paying 50% of the rent that everyone else is. Friction.

Yeah, I've been on the receiving end of that. 'Tension' doesn't come close!

I should add there were also any number that welcomed couples and at least a few that had different rates for couples and singles.
Guess I was just a bit grouchy this afternoon ...
