You really are doing this back to front - you're supposed to ship the crap out before the move - saves packing cases and lugging rubbish around the town. I'm ashamed to say that I do the same thing too - I'm sure I have bags of crap in the shed I brought from my old house and still haven't managed to dump.smiley - blush

If only I could get myself motivated. I need to move house I think, I'll bet you're more motivated now than ever. If I move house I'll definitely do it the right way this time.

The thing is, I can't get rid of the crap before the move. I have no way of getting it to the dump until someone with a car is free to help... It'll just have to go in the garage at the new house while I wait. Besides, there's no room in this house to create a single heap of things that need to be disposed of. It really is simpler to sort it all out as I unpack. This will make packing quicker as I won't be pausing to think about things, I'll just put it all in boxes.

I'm making a serious start on the packing tomorrow, unless I find some new way to procrastinate.

Well, that being the case I won't be talking to you tomorrow - don't want to be a distraction.smiley - whistle

Do you have to complete the move in a day? I've always found that part stressful, somehow it's not so manic if you can take a couple of days and do it a more leisurely pace.smiley - sleepy

I'm off w*rk 16-22 June. The plan is for settlement to happen on 16 June, at the end of which I get the keys. I want to move as many boxes as possible on 17 June, with the removalists shifting the furniture on 18 June. 19 and 20 June I'll set up the new house to some extent; with any luck, the new furniture will be ready for delivery on those days. 21 June I'll clean this place; 22 June I'll have the carpets done by professional cleaners as specified in the lease. On 25 June I intend to hand this place back to the agents, then go to the new house, turn a few cartwheels and get drunk.

Sometime before 16 June I need to give the garden the once-over. At least it's not the growing season so any pruning I do in advance will *stay* pruned.

Between now and 16 June I need to pack, and I have less time for this than it seems as I'm likely to have a few 12-hour days at the office in the next fortnight. At some time I'll need to sleep too.

Well that seems like a plan - and a pretty good one. You're right, of course, that the time will pass very quickly and you'll be at the moving date before you know it, but you do seem to be a well-organised sort of bloke and I'm sure it'll all go smoothly.

I hope you've organised your internet because we'll all be dying to know how you get on.smiley - teasmiley - cakesmiley - choc

I'm on wireless broadband these days so all i have to do is take the laptop and dongle with me. smiley - biggrin That's the easiest things to sort out. Now that I've cut off the home phone as well, there's another thing I don't have to organise.

I'm glad you think I'm well-organised. Can I use you as a reference next time my superiors cast aspersions upon my capabilities in that department? (If you could see my desk you'd understand their point of view, I freely admit it.)

Of course I'll give you a reference - I'm sure you know exactly what's on your desk and where precisely it is.smiley - cool

Some of the most organised people I know are also the most 'artistic' in their filing systems.smiley - winkeye

Artistic. Yes, that's a good word. I'd describe my filing system as 'Impressionist'.

I also know exactly what's on my desk. Complete rubbish, for the most part.

Today was horrid - more than 10 hours in the office, four of them in a single meeting. My brain has ceased functioning.

... And I'm back again. The details of current tiresome (literally) health issues are in my Journal; let's leave them there.

How are you?

I find myself curiously enthusiastic about the new h2g2; I think I'll stick around for a while.

I'm grand thanks, yes, I read your journal. smiley - cuddle

I'm sort of without computer at the moment - which is a bit of a pain. I'm using a stoneage laptop with broken keys and a tendency just to stop working.smiley - rolleyes

Hopefully I'll be up and running in a few weeks when I'll be hanging around a bit more. Finished my Open University course and exam is behind me so no more studying. smiley - boing

I'm hopeful about the future of hootoo as well so I guess we'll just sit back and enjoy the ride - see how the landing goes. smiley - goodluck

And now I'm back after a few days playing host/tourguide. Can't complain - they're the first interstate visitors I've had since I bought this house so I got to show off all my new toys. Now, of course, I want to curl up and sleep for a week...
