Recruitment is indeed sorted. Five interviews, four suitable candidates, four positions found - including one which was created especially for the person in question. Another position has been created to supervise her work... Guess who gets that job? Yes, a promotion (temporary at this stage, but anything's possible) and an underling who I recruited myself. What more could I want? Nothing, really, except a good lunch, and that's in the oven now.

Things are indeed looking up, on the work front at least.
I hope you enjoy your lunch .... I think I'll hit the sack now - daughter will probably have me up from an ungodly hour and tomorrow is just one big rush.
Goodnight dear and merry christmas.

Sleep well... Have a nice day tomorrow.
Lunch is about to be eaten. I hope it's actually as good as I want it to be.

It was quite good, actually. Pork rashers with brown rice. The marinade was made of soy sauce, red wine, garlic, parsley, peanut oil, sesame oil, chilli sauce, tomato paste, soy sauce, garlic... (Mix, taste, keep adding things in search of that elusive balance, give up and drink the red wine instead, add pieces of pig and put in fridge for a day. Then roast on a rack, turning at intervals, until you think they're done.)

Well we had a lovely Christmas dinner and the day just wizzed past. Boxing day was great too and the family got a new baby which made this year very special.
I hope you're still enjoying your break and not becoming too much of a recluse.

I wish I could be a recluse... The only day I've been completely and utterly alone, as desired, was the 25th itself. Today I have some slight chance of it. Tomorrow I need to do a bit of shopping, and there are people scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. So much for my idea of catching up on reading...
Now. This new baby. I assume that wasn't a surprise as such. Was it difficul to wrap, though?

Just seen the news of wild fires in Aus and thought of you - I hope you and your kinfolk are all safe and well.

Ah, there you are. Are you staying, or just dropping in for a visit?
Yes, I'm safe and the family's safe (even if we are all far too hot). I am somewhat concerned about a number of acquaintances - friends and relatives of my friends - who might be in dangerous places right now. But there's nothing I can do, apart from give some money to the Red Cross. For my thoughts on the matter, see my Journal...

Yes indeed, saw the journal shortly after posting here.
It seriously was the wildfires that made me think of you bring me back here, so I don't know how long I'll be around. I've really found this year to be a bit of a pain - so far, and haven't had that much relaxation time.
I had intended to take part in Rich's competition but didn't get the first email and only seen the second one a day after the deadline - so that put me in bad form. After that .... I don't know where the time went or what I've done with it - if you find it let me know.

Sorry, I don't have your time... I don't even have that much of my own. I've cut my hootoo time in half, which hurts a bit really.
In other news - we're expecting a cool change. Down to 29C tomorrow, allegedly. About time, too. I'm just hoping there's no lightning with the cool front - it could start more fires.
Hi Fizzy, it's Ivan...
Fizzymouse- no place like home Posted Feb 8, 2009
Well I hope there isn't any lightening either, but do enjoy the cool down. We're freezing here - snow all week and my heating still isn't working.
I'm just sitting here waiting for a blizzard to hit ... daughter had wanted to go to church this morning. She's fallen back to sleep, so I'm hoping she'll sleep through going to church time and we can give it a miss ....... does that make me a bad mother.
Hi Fizzy, it's Ivan...
Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Feb 8, 2009
Not a bad mother, no. A considerate mother. She needs her sleep... If there are any recriminations, let her think you were asleep too.

*giggles*
Yes, that's what I'll do - and I'll get away with it too so long as she never reads this.
Blizzard isn't here yet anyway and it would be a shame to get snowed into a church.

It could be worse - at least there'd be water and bread and wine to tide you over while the sherpas dug you out.
Hi Fizzy, it's Ivan...
Fizzymouse- no place like home Posted Feb 8, 2009
Please .... I don't think they'd accept me for communion
It's getting near leaving for church time so I'm going to sign off now and feign sleep ..... just in case she wakens at the last minute - she does that sometimes just to annoy me.
Take care.

Thank you dear.
How's the house-hunting going? I love house-hunting ... or snooping around other people's houses on the net, it's a nasty little habit of mine.
I hope you are well and having fun.
Hi Fizzy, it's Ivan...
Ivan the Terribly Average Posted May 3, 2009
Oh, the house-hunting will start properly next year - I have a lease on this place until May 2010, so there's no rush. Besides, I'm hoping for prices to go down a bit.
How are you?
Hi Fizzy, it's Ivan...
Fizzymouse- no place like home Posted May 3, 2009
Ohh I'm same old, same old - nothing much changes here. Credit crunch is biting and swine flu is coming and with a bit of luck we'll get a few sunny days before it's Christmas again.
House prices should continue to drop for a while I think but it's nice to look and see what's about to drop into your price bracket.
So, how's the love life going - any major developments that I've missed and really should know about.
