I hope they either pay you or give you time off in lieu .... most uncivilised expecting you to work all week then weekends and evenings as well.

Swings and roundabouts, Fizzy. I think this covers for all that time I spend skiving at w*rk. And now I'm finished - so this must be a swing. Wheee!
But seriously, I'll get most of the benefit of this thing so it's all OK in the long run.
(And they won't do it again for a while. I can't explain why not without giving Too Much Away.)

Well good, so long as you reap the benefit.
You reall should change your name to Ivan the Terribly Intriguing.

Nah. I can't be bothered with the paperw*rk.
I was expecting to be busy tonight, but I'm not. Now I'm torn... Hang around here, or read a book and have a nice early night? It's a tough choice.

Well I've had a very busy week between chauffeuring the kid around and going to the Opera House to see West Side Story and then Panto rehearsals, so now I'm just chillin' ....... at last.
Hope you're having a good weekend .... we get an extra hour in bed tonight.

That means I'm now 11 hours ahead of the UK, until April. Does this confuse you further?
This weekend has been good so far, except that I have to do a bit of w*rk later. I'm the chair of a recruitment panel, and I can't draft the questions for the applicants at my desk because two of the candidates sit behind me and a third one is in my line of sight.
Three weeks until I'm on leave.
Hi Fizzy, it's Ivan...
Fizzymouse- no place like home Posted Oct 26, 2008
I never could get the hang of 10 hours either way so 11 will keep me just as confused.
I don't envy you having to select from 3 work colleagues - you can't win in that situation, you'll have made 2 enemies by the time that little jolly is over.
I'm off all next week and am hoping to catch up on the housework ... but then I've been hoping for that for an awfully long time now.

It's Monday morning, and I have a headache. What a good start. This week is going to suck.
I need to find out what to do with a colleague who's been acting in one of the positions we need to fill but who's unlikely to win the job in a competitive process. We transfered her in from elsewhere... do we send her back? This process is a nightmare.

Oh my .... if she was happy in her previous position I'd ship her back out to it.
Hope the head's better by now and that you're relaxing with your feet up and a

She wasn't happy in her previous job... I think her referees might have over-sold her to get rid of her. And my boss bought the spin she was given. Hell.
The head is better, but no drinkies for me last night. I needed a good sleep.

No sign of a snow storm here. I assume you can't say the same.
One more day to go, then the weekend. Hurrah for that. This week has been especially draining...

Well we were quite lucky in Belfast we just got cold wet rain. A few miles up the road people were snowed in.
You'll be starting your weekend by now and beginning to unwind. I hope the week ended on a high note for you ..... and you didn't bring any work home with you. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy you know.

Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Oct 31, 2008
I know a chap called jack. He's hard-w*rking and conscientious, and a little earnest, but he also manages not to be dull. Such a pity he lives in Adelaide.
Anyway. Yes, I did bring some w*rk home with me, but it will only take 20 minutes and I can't do it at the office with those bloody candidates hanging around. Don't worry, I'm not going to let it rule the weekend.

I'm glad you won't let it take your weekend from you .... you work hard enough during the week.
So what exciting things did you do then ... the market, shopping
I'm taking it easy - I think I have that down now, it's almost like an art form.

I haven't left the house all weekend. I've been loafing about reading, and eating, and reading books about food which seems a reasonable synthesis of the two activities. I might go to the shops a little later this afternoon, or I might not.
I did think about going to the market but then I realised that would empty my wallet; if I don't spend money now I can spend it in Hobart instead. So I stayed home being economical, or rational, or prudent, or cheap - depending on my mood at any given moment.

I think about doing things quite often ... but it never comes to anything.
I hope you're having a good day at work and aren't feeling the stress too much.

Public holiday tomorrow. There's not much else that matters. I will be spending the day on the couch, reading.
The rest of the week, unfortunately, will be action-packed. Friday in particular will be vile. Interviews all day. Interviewing colleagues, too. This could be awful.

No, I guess life sometimes gets in the way.
So how are you ... everything going well - and did you get your recruitment problems sorted?
