Thanks v. much.
Think I will have to put off this psychology thing for a while though, I have so much work to do. Its a shame, cos I really like writing for h2g2, its a bit like writing for an online newspaper

i know what you mean. i got quite caught up in the whole designing-my-space thing recently. i discovered how to put in links to other sites and that sort of thing, so i've been trying lots of stuff out.
i need to get out more.....
Hey!
Kaz Posted Dec 14, 2004
me too!
Aren't we both total nerds?!
Nah. I like h2g2. Its good. Lots of people to talk to about different things, you can find out loads of stuff on here, its amazing. And you can write your own stuff.
...To Douglas, for being such a genius.
Hey!
NPY Posted Dec 15, 2004
yeah... what a genius!
i've verging on serious geek/nerd at the mo - sci-fi fan, h2g2 obsessed (nearly) and i know a bit about audio-visuals as well.
heeeelllllpppppp!!!!!!

Audio visuals? what do you mean?
I can't say I'm sci fi obsessed, but I'm a bit of a techie. Unfortunately you can't help being like that if you're doing film related stuff. That's the only downside to it really. I just hope I don't get people down with it. (the techie stuff that is).

audio-visuals - you know like microphones, sound-desks, projectors and all that stuff. got a bit into it coz i was (and still am) ticked off that it's a mainly bloke orientated area.

Yeah. tis a bit annoying. I have a minor ambition to be a mix engineer if other stuff doesn't work out.
I'd just love to arrange songs like that. It must be really fun.
Hey!
NPY Posted Jan 11, 2005
sounds like you have a good ambition there. so any songs you'd like to arrange?
yeah, audio-visual stuff is fun. but i don't know a huge amount and have difficulty finding opportunities to learn more. think coz i'm a girl it's that bit harder to get in.
Hey!
Kaz Posted Jan 13, 2005
Possibly, but I dunno really.
Songs I'd like to arrange? Well, I reckon Busted could do with a bit of help as regards how they arrange some of their stuff, but hey, that's irrelevant now, cos I heard this morning they've split up. Not that I'm that bothered. They only did 2 songs I vaguely liked, year 3000 and Sleeping with the light on.
Other than that, I can't really think of much off the top of my head.
Hey!
NPY Posted Jan 14, 2005
yeah all those poor busted fans will be crying themselves to sleep tonight. though nothing can beat the reaction when take that spilt.
well if you ever mix a song and it's being released as a single let me know so i can go out and buy it.
Hey!
Kaz Posted Jan 17, 2005
Oh thank you! I will!
Think you're right about Take that though-that was scary when they split-slightly embarrassing seeing all those wailing girls.
I didn't like Take That much at the time, I was more listening to Michael Jackson actually, I think. I remember buying the dangerous album at school- someone had it and they kept on playing it in school and getting everyone to listen. We all got sort of hooked on the songs.
Don't mind take that so much now, although I think Gary Barlow's solo stuff is better. (I can't believe I just admitted that!) He's recently written a load of stuff for Donny 'white smile' Osmond's new album I think.
Hey!
NPY Posted Jan 18, 2005
it's weird to think though that when take that split everyone though gary barlow would be huge and the others would go nowhere. but robbiew's huge and mark's stuff you hear about, but gary hardly shows his face. and who knows where jason and howard are.
yeah, michael jackson wasn't too bad. though all this stuff about him in the news at the moment is scary.
Hey!
Kaz Posted Jan 19, 2005
Tis a bit.
I reckon Gary Barlow probably made the right descision to write for other people cos it means he doesn't get ridiculed by the press about his so called 'nice guy' image.
I think its harsh that if you're nice in pop, people think you're naff. They were like that about Rick Astley too. There's a guy with a voice, and what happened to him? Where is he now? Admittedly, I think he's done better since he's written his own stuff (I don't go much on the stock/aitken/waterman thing) but hey, it gave him the exposure...
Hey!
NPY Posted Jan 20, 2005
yeah. think gary does write good stuff, but he does have that nice guy thing going against him a lot. and if he goes bad and does drugs and drink and all that, he'll get slagged for that too. you can't win.
Hey!
Kaz Posted Jan 28, 2005
You're right, you can't. Trouble is, its all marketing. I reckon that's half the reson a lot of people on pop idol etc get chucked off-the producers won't be able to sell records with them, its either wrong type of music/wrong personality/wrong look type thing.
Hey!
NPY Posted Jan 29, 2005
true. and even if they win, they soon disappear. where are hearsay now?
