You really are a cutey Paul, pretty damned special yourself,
Maybe it's coming from my limey theatre tradtion. The darkness in the theatre and the delayed start are used to build up audience anticipation! That's what my mum told me when I was little when she took me to the pantomime!

Paul and Red are both sweeties. s
You can also tell (Not)Godben that I stopped posting on 3N before you were on the scene, Red, because the conversation had deteriorated to nothing more than people commenting on thier breakfasts and wo*k activities rather than being silly and making up good story scenarios. Had I been around when (Not)Godben made his stupid comments , I would have seen to it that he was banned from Thingdom (or he would have wished he was)
(Not)Godben has no idea what that thread and our cause were built upon ... he should be ashamed, because you've done a fine job of revitalizing 3N and maintaining its original spirit.

I was born with sawdust in my veins, red. I love the theatre. I had parts in almost every play they put on in high school, and I did several musicals in college and beyond.
I remember having to stretch out my lines in one scene because I knew that the other actors had to take a roundabout route to get to the spot where they'd make their next entrance. Audience members later accused me of forgetting my lines, but that wasn't true!
I rarely forgot my lines.
I miss seeing live theater, though I manage to get to a Gilbert and Sullivan show about once a year.

Paul darling, they misunderstood your cleverness, not nice for you.
You should have been an old time limey, working in the theatre, with a warm hearted politeness, you'd have been a star.
It happens to all of us. Born in the wrong place at the wrong time. Ahhhh What might have been. That's why I like Shakespeare, so many of his heros are tragic characters!
Such is life......

Thanks, red.
I had lots of fun being a ten-year-old treet urchin in "Roar of the greasepaint, the smell of the crowd." So what if I was 21 at the time, and I had to shave off my moustache for the part?

"treet urchin"? Were you dressed as a chocolate-covered peanut?

We have lakes in our backyard too. And a river running beside the house.
Apparently there's also a river *under* the house, but judging by how often the sump pump is coming on, I'd say it'd rather run *through* the basement.

Most ofd the rivers in Massachusetts are flooding now. I'd say a good sump pump is worth its weight in gold if you have a basement....

I don't have a basement, but I sympathize with people who have to worry about keeping water out of them. What a way to have to live!

Luckily, we're far enough from the water to not have to worry about our basement ... but when I lived in Bayville (where my sister lives now), people weren't allowed to have basements because of the flooding problem. Being 13 feet above sea level has it's disadvantages.

I've got some funny white crystals growing on the walls of my cellar(basement). Someone told me it's salt petre which can be explosive in the right circumstances..but should be fine so long as it stays damp, which it is...
Next time I have a bonfire in the garden, I'm going to experiment.....
