It is 87F and raining.

Is that a seasonal high record?

smiley - smiley You're being mutually followed.

smiley - wah I don't have time for any more websites. Haven't done much with Lj in a while. Yahoo closed its blog and photos. Didn't want to join facebook either.

Yes a seasonal high.

Hmm, followed around the 'net/web*glances over shoulder*.

And constant requests to join Facebook.

Have you been close to any of the forest fires, J_z_d? This evening, I had supper at my father's house, and the TV was on. They had a story about California's "Shelter in place" policy for people in fire zones. http://www.disasternews.net/news/article.php?articleid=1821

Apparently, if the brush is removed from the house's perimeter, and the house exterior is fireproof, and there is a sprinkler system *inside* the house, it may be statistically safer for the residents to stay inside rather than try to evacuate. On the other side of the coin, some "fireproof" houses burn anyway, and residents may have trouble breathing from the smoke, so maybe an air purifier would be handy to have? I know the recent fires have been discussed in some other threads here.

I've had requests on facebook from people I have not seen in decades. Turned down some because you know what, if they weren't interested in what I had to say then, when I saw them every day, I doubt I'm more interesting, now. Seems like some are trying to add our entire graduating class of 200 or so. And, others are trying to add every person from that school they can find...Not me, they don't. smiley - run

We had a couple of hours of rain, this afternoon. It's 74F at the moment.

Your area has been a bit dry lately, hasn't it? A little rain is probably a good thing.

I didn't mind the rain. It cooled things off a bit.

It was nice. Wasn't cold enough for the cat to hide under the covers.

Drove through a little cloud burst on my way home today.

How are you?

I'm pretty good. Had my book discussion today--one person showed up. We discussed the books we had read this summer.

...on the topic of smiley - books, I just plowed through one in pretty record time. I picked up Alexander McCall Smith's( http://www.alexandermccallsmith.com )The Careful Use Of Compliments from the library this past Fri. & largely due to an uncooperative computersmiley - steam-just fine Fri. night but Very off'n'on Sat. & Sun.smiley - ermyes Mon. too, finished it Mon. afternoon. There're a couple smiley - books in that same 'Isabel Dalhousie' series I'll have to track down. I also really enjoyed Blue Shoes and Happiness from his 'No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency' collection, & 7 others await reading there. He also has 3 novels each under the 'The Portuguese Verbs' & '44 Scotland Street' headings, so I have no shortage of reading from him alone.

0h & I noticed(via a mention on twitter)that No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency is available on DVD(HBO?), so I can always consider tracking that down too. That would or at least could, eliminate some readingsmiley - laugh.

Someone has just written a book depicting what the world looks life when seen through the eyes of a dog. (Let's suspend disbelief here, as only an actual dog would be able to write such a book, but dogs have yet to write even one book smiley - erm) Someone will probably write a book about how cats see the world.
