Well, not too bad, despite *gasp* more snow...really!

Yeah, the mountains around here had snow on Easter. Fortunately, we just had rain

Don't worry about the swamps, aside from the poisonous snakes, the alligators, and mosquitos (the size of sparrows), the swamps are perfectly harmless.

Uhhhh, right!

The swamps are really beautiful, and incredibly quiet- wonderful places to clear your head.

Oh, I'm sure! Nature's great at providing tranquil spots to do that - clear the mind.

For some reason, I seem drawn to water... bayous, lakes, ponds, swamps, rivers.

I've spent enough time around the water oceans, lakes, rivers & streams - can't really say I've ever felt a 'pull' at all.

Well, correction...when I'm nearby I might be drawn to the shoreline or whatever.

The best places to meditate/contemplate, for me anyway, seem to be near water.

Yes, I do like water nearby for that!

I'd tell you the other place I found really peaceful and conducive to contemplation. But it would seem a bit weird, probably more than a bit, actually.

OK...but you realize this is going to eat away at me now.

One afternoon a few years ago a friend and I went to a park. The park is the site of a Civil War battle field(Port Hudson). We hiked through the woods, then climbed the earth works.

While we were perched on the top of the Confederate earth works we took a good look around at the view the Confederate soldiers would have had. Then we both sort of sat there for quite some time, just looking around and contemplating why all those things happened there.

Somehow I can see that, that's reasonable.

It just sounds so odd... One of the most peaceful places being a battlefield.

Well hearing you say it like that...

It was a beautiful place, too. My brother participates in some of the re enactments at that park.
