Evangline was online earlier today. You missed her. I haven't seen your friend The Theory in a very long time. I know some people who know him in real life, but they haven't been around either....
There are a dair number of new people at H2G2. A lot of the older ones have dropped out, but some have stuck around. This site is attractive to interesting, creative people who have dynamic lives ahead of them.

It's changed that's for sure.
There's no more "Why?", or "What can we blame on Hitler" threads in Ask, it's all serious now.
Half - three quarters maybe - of the old guard have gone...
It's changed so much, I wouldn't be surprised to find out LeKZ got unbanned.

As far as I know, she is still banned. Maybe she has moved on to other things, and no longer cares.

I don't know what you see in him, I wouldn't cross the street to see him, sitting there in his sweaty shirt, and he can't even remember he came back to H2G2 until three days later...

After the first six years, three days is just a few minutes.
How have you been?

Rat - Returning In Time For Rupert The Second Posted Feb 10, 2011
It's been six years, a bit too long for how have you been. Up, down and sideways for all of us I would expect. Been drunk, sober, rich, poor, been in more countries than I can count, lived in 5, some several times, been in love, out of love, in trouble, out of trouble, there's been births, deaths, marriages and divorces, but I made it out alive, as have, so far, half a dozen of the people I remember here.
Anything interesting to share?
On another note, I have a collection of email address from the old ACE group for people who mostly, seem to no longer be here. Would it be wrong to fire off an email, to try to make them come back?

I don't think it would be wrong to email them. They'll either get the email or not, answer or not.
Things have been up and down here too. The negative stuff seems to have levelled off instead of snowballing. Personally, I feel better now than a couple of years ago.
Did some writing, some for h2g2 and some that's sort of in progress.

Half of these emails don't even exist anymore - Ukonline, Rocketmail, StrayDuck...I remember those days
What is there to do around here now? I can't remember anywhere I used to go except Ask, keepers, the zoo, and campaign for a towel smiley.

I tend to gravitate to threads where people write stuff or do word association. There's also a thread where many of us are debating what H2G2 should be like after we leave the BBC: word association http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F2137311?thread=656705&latest=1 short short stories http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F2606954?thread=6506119&latest=1 bad poetry http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F2606954?thread=5718865&latest=1 Recovering from Stockholm Syndrome - h2g2 after the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F19585?thread=8029882 Nonsense verse; or the silliness of the iambs http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F69196?thread=6410113&latest=1

Hi, Candi. [Waves back. ]
My live has not been anywhere near as tumultuous as Rat's. I retired a little over a year ago. My computer and my stereo died on the same day a couple weeks ago. The computer has been restored to health. The stereo is being fixed, but I don't expect it back before mid-November....
The thing is, I've been taking antibiotics for peneumonia for a couple weeks. I could have used a computer connection and some music during the worst of the pneumonia, and I was left with just books to read. Thank goodness I squirrelled away enough of them when I was out and about.

I'm going to have to remember to log in more often.
But look at this, I've got my proper account back - the one Aunty Beeb confiscated

That's great news, Rat.
[My previous post mentioned pneumonia, which has gone away. Somehow I got a blood clot in my leg during the pneumonia, so now I'm taking blood thinner and walking with a cane. It's always something, but I'm out and about. ]

I've just had cancer, and then when my body discovered it can't kill me, it decided to grow a hernia out of spite instead. Sounds like we're all falling apart.
Personally, I think Gargravarr had the right idea.

It's a wonder cancer isn't more prevalent, given the toxins that product designers keep adding to the things you and I buy. It's been said that a woman's risk of getting breast cancer is directly proportional to the amount of transfats in her butt. Margarines are a huge culprit in regard to transfat content. It's almost enough to make butter look attractive.
