What is it? What is it made of? Who invented it? How much of it can a Cajun drink in one mouthful?

It's made on Avery Island, Louisiana. Invented by Walter Mc Illhenny, developer of the Tabasco(trademarked) pepper. Measured in drops if you aren't from here... and teaspoons if you are from here.

I've toured the Tabasco factory... nothing like driving past the dumpsters of mashed peppers and vinegar on the way out... my eyes were stinging for a while.

Why would anyone *need* Tabasco sauce if they have all the ingredients that go into it?
I rarely use curry sauce, because every Indian recipe that I make calls for ingredients that I already have.
Worcestershire sauce is a dufferent matter, as I really don't want to deal with anchovies.
My question if hypothetical, though, as I have reached an age where full-strength tabasco would not be something I'd want to deal with anyway.

Rat, I'd rather not even think about *shudder* that many bee stings.
*allergic to bees, wasps, and other stuff...*
Oh, and the unit of measure for a Tabasco hot pepper, was probably Scoville heat units.
Paul, Tabasco Sauce is aged in oak barrels, which changes the flavor. I cook with more spices and condiments than just Tabasco.
Dragonfly, I put Tabasco, jalapenos, or crushed red peppers on pizza, depends on what type of pizza and my mood at the time.
