sorry, Kelly, I didn't mean to scare you!
It's true, that it's not so much pain as pressure and discomfort, although at the end I was really screaming with the effort. I can't imagine giving birth in a car though
As for the scan - well, of course you can't help thinking about it, but since there is nothing you can do, all you can try is to keep calm.
and drink herbal

Well I can debunk that one straight away happily, otherwise it would be something else to Prey On My Mind! It isn't true that modern ultrasound can hurt the baby. There was an outside chance that the older machines that didn't regulate their thermal levels properly could hurt the baby but all the modern ones do so it is fine - was listening to a thing about 3D scans on the radio the other day and even the professor and the midwife they had on to counsel against these private 'bonding scans' (great pictures though!) agreed that they didn't actually harm the baby in that way.

Oh, good!
There's an ultrasound company around here that calls themselves "Womb with a View."

Whhhhoooooooohhooooooooooo!
I definitely don't have to go to Ireland! Yeeeehaaaaaaaw!
i am delighted about this, it is a massive weight off my mind. Just have to hope that friday goes well and I can actually relax and actually enjoy this...
So, I guess this means something is starting.
Agapanthus Posted Aug 30, 2006
Oh the relief! Not that Ireland's not lovely, but you can't really appreciate its loveliness when a married pregnant lady sent there for months on end sans husband. Under circs, you'd probably find it hard to appreciate the loveliness of Shangri La.

Sho - employed again! Posted Aug 30, 2006
that's great news, Kelli.
So, how are you feeling these days?

You're right Ag - anywhere away doesn't really appeal! My boss' boss wasn't very happy about my not going but my boss stuck up for me and said that J had basically said he didn't want me to go - obviously *I* was really committed to the project and would probably not worry about the insurance thing if it was up to me - it was all J's fault! None of this is what I actually said, but the big boss is quite a traditional man so it fit with his world view to believe I would do what my husband told me in spite of my own opinion
I'm feeling much less tired and sick thanks Sho. Have reached the 12 week milestone and am really just waiting until we've got the scan out of the way and then I can relax a bit. Less than 48 of the slowest hours ever experienced...
So, I guess this means something is starting.
Sho - employed again! Posted Aug 30, 2006
oh yes, the magic 12 weeks - you can look forward to the scan and then that bit where you start to glow.
Man, I'm quite jealous, you know.I absolutely loved being pregnant.

Hmmm, I need a word....
A word for something you are really scared about and just want to get to as quickly as possible in case it is horrible but which might turn out to be wonderful. Dread, anticipate, look forward to, they don't really cover what I feel about this scan. I am really nervous that it will be bad news and I can't really think past 2.30 on friday as my brain keeps conjuring up all the awful scenarios like getiing bad news immediately, or finding my downs risk has shot up due to the nuchal tanslucency test and we need more tests. I just need it to hurry up and be friday afternoon so I can know what to feel next...

How does purgatoriation sound? Not a real word but I define it as awaiting further developments while filled with fear and joy all at once

Hmmm.... hopefuldread? Hopedread? Dreadluck? Nah, been playing too much WoW I think...
DTN? Dread Turned Nice
Dread Proved False
No, not quite the right ring...
Nature's Triumph (in the face of all the odds of things that might go wrong)
Oh - that's a bit too grand, isn't it? Drat...

The word we are looking for is apprehension: To anticipate with anxiety or dread, fearful of what may happen

But I'm looking forward to it too, I'm not entirely fearful!

Very complex time emotionally for you. I do not envy you. We are all united in wishing you the very best. Whatever it is that is going on, it will be resolved soon.

NOnono! Keep the little one oxygenated, dear!
Inhale..
Exhale...
repeat. Think happy thoughts (when my son can't sleep i have him think up a story about bunnies in a sunny field - knocks him out each time...)
