Hiking around Long Pond before the nuclear fallout starts (a dream)

My dream last night was part pastoral, part post-apocalyptic.

When the dream began, the bombs were about to fall (thankfully very far away, but the fallout would be bad at first), and the people in my community built some kind of multilayered nest with a fallout-proof cover that would dropped over us just before the air got toxic.
Granted, space was rather tight, and we wouldn't be awfully comfortable, but that was the price one paid for staying alive.

But somehow, the war was going slower than expected. We had a few extra hours, and we certainly didn't want to spend them cooped up in the fallout shelter. Therefore, I went for a walk down to Long Lake, where there was supposed to be a guide who could take us on a tour of the footpath that ran all along the lake. For some reason, there was only one guide, and she was running late, and when she did get there, she was leisurely about leading us around the lake.

After a few hundred yards, I had a chance to see how long the lake actually was. We were never going to get around it in time to get back in the fallout shelter. I bade adieu to her, and went back.

It was a beautiful lake, though. Wish I could have seen more of it. smiley - sadface

Fighting the draft, and insulting a woman President (a dream)

I dreamed that I was with a group of anti-war people who were trying to get the U.S. out of Vietnam. I tried sleeping in the same room as Jane Fonda, but she couldn't stand me, so I had to move outside on the patio with my sleeping bag. smiley - erm

Tom Hanks was in there somehow, in a sauna, with all his clothes on.

There was quite a long scene with a late-20s grad student who was taking as long as possible to finish his doctorate so he wouldn't be drafted. The President of the U.S. (a woman who resembled Lady Bird Johnson and Betty Ford) became so concerned about him that she went to see him for a talk. I escorted her in, explaining that she was wasting her time. She was arrogant and dismissive, and he didn't nudge one inch. I called her a %@! jerk as she left.

Sigmund freud is still taking new patients, and he does magic tricks (a dream)

This was kind of a fun dream.....

I dreamed that there was an old mansion not far from where I live, with wrought-iron gates and fountains outside. I was told that the house was where Sigmund Freud lived and saw his patients. Despite his great age, he was still taking new patients, so I booked an appointment with him.

Unfortunately, I was ten minutes late for my first appointment with him. He met me at the door, and said that something had come up, and he couldn't see me then. He proceeded to walk out in front of his house to where a crowd had gathered, and began doing magic tricks.

Now that I could see him in the sunlight, I noticed that he ahd darkened his hair,. so peopoe wouldn't realize how old he was. smiley - bigeyes

A very short shortcut to Alaska...(a dream)

I dreamed that there was a back alley near my home in Boston, that led to a path up a hill. I followed the path, encountering many sets of steps and the occasional interestion where there were streetcars and other traffic. When I reached the top of the hill, I found that I was in Alaska, and a group of my friends were there, enjoying some kind of athletic center, complete with a swimming pool. I decided to spend a week or so with them, but they warned me that I hadn't brought enough warm clothing, as September 21 was just a feew days away, and the severe cold and dark was about to come clamping down. smiley - yikes

So, I walked back down the hill to Boston.

Greetings from

Im in the middle of a ten-day concert tour of Italy with the Dedham Choral Society. (Just call me Paolo. Just dont expect to see any apostophes, as I cant find them on this Italian keyboard).

I will have many stories to tell when I get back to the safety of my own computer. Stories such as:

--The lost luggage (Not mine, thankfully, but for eight of our singers there was no joy at the baggage retrieval section)
--The tour bus that was too big to fit the narrow, long steep road up to our hotel.
--Bank cards that refused to yield any cash, badly needed cash smiley - sadface
