I'm sure to ave strange dreams about this for a while. Anyway, I"m getting together with the rest of the family this Saturday, for a corned beef and cabbage dinner. Sort of an early St Patrick's Day feast, though we're only a little bit Irish.

We're a little bit of a lot of nationalities. My ancestors *probably* left their home countries of their own accord. There was one pair of lovers, one from Ireland and the other from Scotland, who were welcome in neither country, so they came to the U.S. The Pennsylvania Deutsche ancestors might have been Huguenots who sought asylum in Germany and then went to, well, Pennsylvania.

I've just started a new conversation at the Post office main page. Dmitri hasn't read any conversations there since Oct. 28, so I hope he'll eventually find it.

The emails have been worked out. I hope to submit a wacky poem called "Sleeping Nutcracker lake," asuming that I ever get around to finishing it..

I had lunch at my brother's house yesterday. We talked about Dad.

In one of my emails to my brother, I said that Dad never met a spruce tree he didn't like. My brother said that one of the things Dad liked so much about my sister's cottage in New Hampshire was that the spruces there were in the right climate for setting seedlings.

I've never met your dad or you Paul but! I know he was a good dadbecause he was half of the team involved in producing a Good Friend I have on hootoo

One of my sister-in-law's sisters said that my father was the poetry in her life. She didn't meet hi very often, but he must have made a good impression on her.

Prof, you and many of my other h2g2 friends have a hard row to hoe, given the shambles that has been made of Brexit. You have my sympathy, but also my respect because you'e gong to go on with your lives regardless of how things turn out.

(I'd invite you to my side of the Atlantic, but we have this guy who wants to build walls all around the country. They would make it hard to get through....)

my passport ran out many years ago, but it's still got an American visa stamp that is marked "indefinitely" "THEY" can't keep ME out (it's only the lack of money that can)

It is my experience that "indefinitely" means "till we change the rules"

And they've probably changed the rules at least three times by now.

We had gotten so used to having Dad around that we had begun to think of him as someone who would be around indefinitely. Now we know there was a definite end waiting for him.
