My grandma died when I was 11 yrs old (I'm 69yr old this year) I STILL remember certain events, so She is still in my heart and memory
and her personality, how she interacted with family/friends 
still helps guide me as of today

I was thirty when my grandmother died. She fought the Grim Reaper tooth and nail at the end. "I'm not going!" she exclaimed as they led her from her room at the rest home to the ambulance.

When my grandmother and her brother Arthur were in their eighties, they liked nothing better than to sit on our living room couch arguing with each other. My mother said that it was good for their circulation to get worked up now and then.
