h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I dreamed that I had found an old soup recipe that Beethoven had invented. Being a perfectionist, he must have tweaked it until it was a culinary masterpiece. So, I got a huge souppot to make it in, as the recipe called for a lot of different ingredients and fairly large amounts of each: Different kinds of meat, both rice and potatoes, plenty of root vegetables and beans, as well as a long list of herbs and spices. It also got put through a blender just before serving (not that Beethoven had blenders, but it *was* supposed to pureed by some method or other).

After a great amount of work and time, I finished cooking it, and invited plenty of friends in to taste it. It was pretty good, we all agreed.

Then I went out to do some errands, ending up at a shopping mall. Supper time rolled around, and I thought I would eat at a restaurant at the the mall. Wouldn't you know, the restaurant I walked into was serving the same recipe!

I never manage to eat anything in a dream - at least I can never remember doing so, something always happens to prevent the food getting into my mouth, especially if the food looks really delicious.


oh and Beethoven would have used a mouli - or food mill to puree his soup.

The soup is finished. The pot has a lid on it and a label, 'Für Elise'.



Oh, and Beethoven is being played by Gary Oldman...

I'm trying to remember whether I put sausage or wiener schnitzel into the soup. There was definitely some good cheese which we grated and sprinkled into our soupbowls.

I have a recurring dream in which I'm swimming in a pool, but the water is very resistant to my strokes. When I wake up, I realize that I was probably trying to swim on my mattress.

Most of my ancestors were Freedonians in the years after the American Revolution. Eventually they realized that they were Americans, so they went with that.

i guess they could do a lot worse. being a devoted north korean nationalistic for example can't be easy when living in the US these days
