OK question time - what links that comment with a famous James ?

Which comment do you mean?
The one I made about being an educated fool?
James Crimmins (a guitarist) recorded a song
called "Educated fool."
Or the one you made about being an educated man?
In Conan Doyle's "Hound of the Baskervilles,"
Dr. James Mortimer was referred to (by other
characters) as an "educated man."
Or was it a religious reference? In the book of James,
there are various verses that could be translated
to include the expression "educated man."

Close but no cigar ....... I was thinking of King James 1st/6th of England/Scotland. Immortalised as "the wisest fool in Christendom" by Henri IV (Navarre) of France.

So "educated fool" has now morphed into "wisest fool"?
In high school, I sang in a production of
Johann Strauss' "The Gypsy Baron."
The character I played sang a song with
the title "Educated fool:"
Behold, in me you see
A man of family tragedy.
My doting mother did decree
That educated I should be.
She even had me christened Noah,
After Webster's dictionary,
Wishing thinking that I'd show a
Lot more I.Q. than ordinary.
To please my mother, I did toil,
And burned a lot of midnight oil.
I learned each thing by rote and rule,
But my poor brain
Will not retain.
I am an educated fool!

But it's really, really amusing to think
that every time I post in *this* "Nothing
atall" thread, Red Dog won't know whether
it's the one on my page, or the one on his page.
