Another Lifetime Ban - Bigotry and Paranoia in action
SEF Posted Aug 8, 2003
(_()~~~ = worms leaving can
Accounts are BBCi ones rather than specifically dna ones.
The different dna sites are separable.
I've been indefinitely banned from one of them for something I didn't do, in an account I wasn't operating and despite the real offender owning up almost immediately. There wasn't even an email sent to me informing me of this let alone any transgressions procedure. I'm still banned and have received no apologies from the staff for any of the many bad things they have done. One recently had the cheek to talk about trust when I'm probably the most honest and trustworthy person around and they are the ones who have repeatedly broken their own rules and shown they are undeserving of respect or trust.

This thread is supposed to be about Symphony. So while I have additional information about banning that particular bit of it was not specifically directed towards getting Symphony back onto h2g2. Hence it was off-topic. However, it was less off-topic than many threads get.

It seems to me that until such a time as Symphony has sent in the evidence this conversation is largely irrelevant.

"largely irrelevant"
Perhaps so but it does serve the minor function (NB not so minor to some) of expressing support for Symphony (necessarily limited support of course from those who can't be totally sure Symphony isn't LeKZ).
If you want to be relevant and helpful you could try coming up with any better suggestions of types of proof of non-LeKZ-ness or places/people to whom to send it.
I think the sort of stuff needed for money laundering regulations is a good start and that it should probably be sent by snail mail since that apparently creates a trail which is harder to simply make disappear. I don't exactly believe it myself but have been told it is true of big corporations. This is probably because the recipient doesn't open their own mail so its existence has already been logged in one or more places by one or more people before the time they see it and might realise they want to make it disappear. That would still be possible to do though with enough power/money available to ensure the complicity of the handlers. Snail mail still has more credibility than email to many though and is also probably the best way to send such documentation as would be required.

They're sorting out paper documentation with their name and address on. I'm going to scan it for them, and then they're going to email it to the italics.
They're going to include their mobile and home phone numbers too, so that the italics have the option of calling them.
All of that will also be sent snail mail to Ashley Highfield, along with printouts of the emails already sent/received.
Any other (reasonable, polite and not utterly beyond normal human capacities ) suggestions?

Hmmm whilst I see what you are saying SEF, I do not think it would be very difficult for someone who is based in the UK to prove it with documentation if they so desire.
Personally there is no way whatsoever that I can know whether or not Symphony is LeKZ. If they are one and the same then the account should have been closed. If not then Symphony can send in some proof that she is based in Britain and the story concludes.
Personally I do not think the towers staff would suspend an account unless they were pretty sure that it was LeKZ.

It's possible to be "pretty sure" and still wrong, though...

Sure in which case it should be easy to prove identity.

I finally got to the end of the backlog on A666263 (with more than occasional asides to other pages/threads).
Do I get a prize?
I'm not sure what I can say now without possibly being similarly unjustly accused of being LeKZ. I'm far too late on the scene of that particular crime. So this smiley (risky enough) is all I can offer:
There must be a lot more off-camera which I didn't find though, to judge by the gaps and implied references. Perhaps much of that will be linked from U173889 (which I haven't fully explored yet) but I suppose some may have been censored. The posts which remain are clearly *not* judged to be bad and yet show quite the opposite of that claimed and implied by the ban. Certainly, apart from the XXX post, I would judge the truly appalling behaviour not to have been on LeKZ's part at all so far.
Still not much sign of intelligence after 2.5 years...
. . .
Getting back to the more extant problem of Symphony's ban: if some progress isn't made on that front I may end up having to finish the other bits of backlog, including all Symphony's threads, in order to figure out for myself whether there could possibly be any justification for equating them. Since I'm not familiar with the posting styles of either at the moment (apart from very few LeKZ examples) that seems like a rather long task. I don't think I can face it right now.
Somehow I don't think this will work but: please un-ban Symphony if only to save the rest of us from the backlog!

You've only just finished it? I actually read it with interest a few months ago. I find it interesting

David Conway Posted Aug 9, 2003
I'm impressed.
That's a *lot* of backlog.
You win a loobrush and some .
Symphony's threads wouldn't take nearly so long. They didn't post a lot.

Well I said I didn't go through all the threads from the space. What I did cover took me a rather long time because I like to read things carefully and make sure I've really understood as far as possible what each person actually said and why. So much of it seemed very shallow. It was interesting (? useful double-edged euphemism) to see many of the same people behaving in almost exactly the same way as they still do.

Hmm... not much left in the way of postings from U211780 (if there ever were any more, eg now unsubscribed). I can see how the friends list and blatant references to a former and elsewhere existence looks suspicious but that's presumably explainable in terms of "multiples" sticking together. Now there's an image! Multiple on the inside and the outside - would be extra confusing for siamese twins.
Oops, I hope jokes aren't automatically seen as offensive.

I wouldn't think they are. I'm not offended, anyways.
And, yes... people who have issues in common do seek each other out. Witness all of the support groups, all over the internet, for people with given physical or psychological conditions. Nobody can really understand a multiple like another multiple, and everybody wants to be understood. Besides, it takes some to know some.

Been there, done that. Bought the T-Shirt, all the CD's, and recently picked up about 3500 copies of the remaindered novel, with the covers still on, for US$1.27. (Free copies sent with receipt of proper postage and return address. Novel weighs in at 47 pounds including the lead shielding and requires no night light to read in the dark.)
I've been here, seen this, wish you all well, but I've had no contact with Symphony (under that name) and certainly none since I've come back here for limited purposes. I've nothing more to add to any of this that I haven't said in the past and far less reason to say anything here.
It's just that my name has been mentioned and I have friends here who are concerned and involved.
My vote, ignorant though it is and has to be, at this time is that the Italics should review, publicly, for the sake of this community that they seem to value, any such issue and that their silence in this discussion may speak well of their restraint and so called professional separation from and placement above the rest of us but it also acts to destroy any concept of fairness and/or involvment in anything more than keeping articles showing up on the front page so that BBCi will keep sending them pay checks.
At such time as that ceases to happen, despite all the other activities in this sand box, their checks and this site will quietly and without discussion cease to exist. This being what I take to be the operative concerns of TPTB, in a limited and short sighted sense, appropriate to their classified mission statement, I don't expect that anything anyone says here will have any effect on them maintaing their show of force, prejudice, and self-righteousness, so long as those statements do not themselves violate the Rules and Terms of Service.
I'm sure I don't have to even invite your speculations or to suggest than any of us, save those who have left in disgust and refused to return over similar situations, really wish this place to shut down which is why it doesn't matter to them if one researcher, more or less, is permitted access to the sand box.
Just keep everyone happy and head off playground arguments before they start.
What is written here is that different from what has been written in the past and none of that every made a difference either. So, we (note that I include myself) simply don't matter to them.
Of course, some of us are still constantly watched and some of us have been marked down as harmless.
I'm just chiming in because I finally found the thread after hearing about it. I really don't leave my current goal directed corner of the sand box because I just don't have the time or energy to to waste on what I have taken to be a lost cause.
I haven't the personal involvement I had at the time of S and Q, (and I still have no intention of joining converse with HVL who, no doubt has deduced as much and likely feels much the same about me.)
There have been a lot of assumptions here, in terms of attempting to understand the background. Some of them are correct but many of them are not, as far as my own personal history tells me. I'm not going to start pointing fingers or offering my own, admittedly, biased version of past events.
This current search for truth, justice, and the Anglican way is ultimately are based on the fundamental belief that nothing on this site has been tampered with in any significant way, that the record is still there for those who want to take the trouble to track it down.
I suggest that you simply decide whether any justice is possible, or even pertinent, to your lives here. Become excited, become angry, become convinced, become disillusioned, become indignant, become contemptuous, become resigned, become satiated, become bored, become dedicated, become utterly blase. Then go play in another part of the sand box or find an entirely different one with better games and score tables.
This world is real or it isn't. What is done here matters or it doesn't. It's results are earthshaking or immaterial. And in every case, if you just go stand over there or over there it looks very different and it's still just another part of the sand box experience.
The preceeding has been brought to you by someone doing something instead of doing something else. And it was done merely to be able to say to himself, that he had said something even in the midst of a meaningless teacup typhoon.
Certainly, real people are being hurt, including the community that includes 'LeKZ' whom, last they spoke to me on the subject, said --- well, I can't even say what they said. It's against the rules.
You all figure it out how you would feel.
