It would be nice to think that that happened.
There was apparently a mass die-off of native Americans
due to smallpox and other diseases that the European
settlers brought with them. Were it not for that,
it would have been much harder to establish settlements
in the new World, at least in the manner we have now.
Maybe it would have been better if the Europeans had
adapted to native American lifestyles. There would have
been give and take, and the resulting culture would
have been kinder to the environment.
Actually, it's more realistic to think that there would
have been horrible wars.
Anyway, the past can't be changed. All we can do is try
to understand what has happened and try to coexist
peacably now.

The Chad Mitchell Trio used to sing:
I have been around this land,
Just a doing the best I can,
And the folks I meet ain't always kind.
Some are bad, some are good,
Some have done the bets they could,
And some have tried to ease my troubled mind,
And I can't help but wonder where I'm bound, where I'm bound,
I can't help but wonder where I'm bound.

But Pan.... you are nuts.
Talking of nuts, I had to give way to a squirrel at a set of traffic lights on my bike today

Geez, I hate to harm all your fragile ma egos & such. But I've been feeding squirrles by hand since I was a little biddie.
And I now have a black one named Shadow & her son a red tail variety named Chatter.
I think it's time for SOME people to get back (into) nature. tisk.
hard to catch...indeed.Always pullin' my keg.

I have no use for a Squirrel Skin hat - I only need two hats - one is my motorcycle helmet and the other is a bassball cap with a Bass cleff on (how is that?)
I bear sqirrels no grudge.... and the light was against me anyhow.

I used to have a cat who could catch a squirrel
once in a while. The squirrels in my neighborhood
like to sit on my porch and eat nuts. I come home
and find nutshells there. I simetimes see them
in the act as I'm getting home for work.
I respect squizzles for their high-wire acts as
they scamper across electrical wires high above the
highway.
And, yes, I think they're too cute to kill.
So, there!
