Today

Yesterday was rather exhausting. Although Italy is only a very short hop from England, for some reason I was unusually tired yesterday and did not venture far from my villa. Went down into the village late afternoon and then came back and lazed around the pool. We went out to a averagey sort of restaurant last night. The meal was somewhat lukewarm, and I am not quite sure on why Italians insist on serving artichokes with everything, but they did serve a rather good vintage.

This we went down to the lake and did a spot of waterskiing, followed by a very long lunch back at a villa and the compulsory siesta. We played a rather appauling nine holes before dinner, and we are now sitting out on the balcony discussing the affairs on the day.

I see the police have picked up another few terrorist suspects in Birmingham today - good job, lads! Now let's get on with the business of deporting them and the rest of the madcap mullahs.

More later...

Another North / South Divide

It is often noted that in England there is a discernable North / South divide.

Northerners are regarded as being less well off, a bit more brash and impatient. By contrast, southeners are seen as wealthier, friendlier and more refined / sophisticated in their social interactions.

Here in Italy, there is a similar divide, although it is the other way around. Northern Italians are most refined, well groomed, and altogether more professional when dealing with others. Southern Italians are scruffy, very laid back, brash, reckless on the roads, and rather ill-mannered.

At this time of year, southern Italy gets rather hot, so unfortunately many southerners have come up North. It is so easy to spot them, one can tell them apart from the locals in an instant. Why, I wonder, do these people not take pride in their appearance? Perhaps they cannot afford decent clothing, but that does not explain their obesity or their apparent inability to shave.

So do I prefer English northerners or Italian southeners.... hmmm that is a hard one. I shall have a think and get back to you.

People we know in hell

(Only Christians need respond).

Few people, even Christians, like to think about death. It is always something that happens to someone else, and we hear those stuck in churchiantiy saying they have friends and familt members who have 'passed away' and are 'with the Lord'.

Alas, scripture tells us that very few, will, in fact, take the narrow road to be with the Lord. Unless they have repented and have been born again, they will die in sin and go straight to Hell, where they shall stay until Judgement Day, when, most likely, they shall be despatched forthwith to the Lake of Fire.

My maternal grandparents are both in hell now - they have been there for around four years. I also have a cousin who died in a rail accident a while back. He, too, is most probably in hell as he was a satanist. But I shudder to think that there are many others who have been there for up to 6,000 years - and some for even longer!

Christians, how many people do you know who have passed into the hands of the devil? It is not a pleasant thought, but it is, nonetheless, a sobering one.

Just off to the balcony now...

... to indulge in bottle of '97 Brunello di Montalcino and listen to some jazz and good conversation with old chums!

Bye for now!

I do adore the sunshine...

Just to let you know...

I am going off to my villa in sunny Italy today with some old school chums. I do have internet there, but I do not intend to spend a lot of time in front of my PC whilst on holidays.
