bad news

I can't possibly imagine what it must be like for the people of USA just now. My heart goes out to you all.
I hope that all your friends and relatives are safe .
I heard the news when I came out of a meeting this afternoon and my young assistant came running up the stairs like a mad thing. She knows I have friends in NY. Luckily I have heard tonight my friends are safe but in shock and grieving for missing ones. THIS IS A TERRIBLE DAY FOR THE WORLD.
I just hope that reprisals do not escalate to war.
Our thoughts are with you in USA and all we can do is hope for the best possible outcome for you all.

monday again

well it's monday again. I'm quite chilled out though. I went to the union to get some advice about my job...they said I should sue! So I have an appointment to see the boss.....we'll see what he has to say! As I feel I'm in the right I'm not so bothered now. 
Our gate blew off at the weekend so that is getting mended today whilst i'm at work. Going to cost about £50 but it isn't safe without it. 
Oh well just another set back to my finances. I put out a big bag of stuff for the charity collection today so I am feeling quite virtuous...cleaned out the closets and gave stuff away. I must try not to hoard as we haven't got the room. Hooray sun is shining again..it's been cold so far today....being virtuous must pay off

headache

Got a splitting headache this morning.
Must be all those meetings I went to yesterday. long day today...won't finish until 7pm tonight. got other people's problems coming out my ears this morning. Nothing changes
some days are better than others. It's nice to know I have so many friends on H2g2 
.things like that keep you going...that reminds me I have a friend i must phone this weekend.

back again

well here we are back at work again. hello office..... they have mended the servers..Hah...I have to spend an hour every morning reloading my stuff onto my computer cos every ******* morning it's gone again.
told the boss I have applied for another job......now trying to persuade me to write my job to suit myself so I'll stay.
TOOO LATE!!!!!!
I want to pack up my coffee machine and my books and go
If I don't get this job...something else will turn up!

disgraceful e-mail

I have just found a nasty e mail in my n2g2 mail box.It's from Lekz and is because I directed Hoovooloo to a sceptics site so he could see both sides for himself.People should see both sides of any coin before making their minds up on any issue.
The email was disgraceful inthat 1) It made cruel comments about my dyslexia...disability is not something that should be used as a weapon or to insult someone
2) Lekz claims to be a psychotherapist in the e mail.....Every counsellor knows the power words can have and the damage, mentally caused by verbal abuse is worse than physical abuse because it lasts much longer. To claim to be a psychotherapist and then use verbal abuse as aweapon is an absolute disgrace. Were Lekz practising in the UK she would be struck off for such behaviuor.
I have forwarded the email and other details to colleagues in the USA to investigate.I try to keepan open mind ...psychiatry and psychology like all professions have their problems e.g. the gendering of mental illness is an example,but will not tolerate malpractice or abuse of any kind bringing my profession into disrepute.
I have no doubt that in the USA as in the UK, anyone can set themselves up as a therapist with out training but genuine therapist will be a member of the British Psychological Society or one of the counselling bodies and I know the USA has similar guidelines. In the UK as a counsellor you have to first undergo counselling yourself...how can you help other people if you are unstable yourself? It would cloud your judgement.And once practising are continually monitoredand continue to attend regular counselling sessions your self.
Even a child knows that calling a person names or verbally abusing them is wrong and will hurt them...whether you are 4 years old or 40 you are aware of the consequences of your actions.
This also smacks of what we call "Ad Hominem" thinking- you insult the person because that draws attention away from the real issue which you cannot support. as in " you only say that because you are a child abuser...neo-Nazi....communist."..I don't know... I'm sure you can think of your own examples.
It focuses attention on the person and side steps the issues.
I have already had one reply from the USA ..the colleague suggests , after viewing Lekz's pages that I watch a film called "Raising Cain"...he says he gets a spate of clients with the same sypmtoms, every time it is showed on TV.Apparently it is a fictional story.Someone on the board may have seen it and can enlighten me about it...in the meantime I'll keep a lookout for it as I have no idea what he means.
No doubt I will now recieve more abusive emails and "Ad Hominem" messages but all I will say is that anyone who says they are a psychotherapist and knows the damage written and verbal abuse can cause and then goes on to do the very same thing including making remarks about dyslexia, does not deserve your support. I am disgusted that a professional colleague, as Lezk claims to be, could behave in this way, and will see something is done about it.
