BUS, BUS, BUS!
You lucky, lucky people
Back once again, possibly with the ill behaviour. I've been here in one form or another for a long time. Hopefully I'll be around a bit for a while, especially as I should have broadband next year.
Who am I then?
I am, at least for a short while, 20 years old. In a month (from mid July as I write) I will be 21. I study Artificial Intelligence at the University of Sussex, for which I received a 2:1 in my 2nd year exams, excellent stuff. My main interests are reading, writing and music (both playing and listening).
Reading
I like to read. I like it a lot. My favourite authors are : Hunter Thompson, Franz Kafka, William Burroughs and, to a lesser extent, Philip Dick. Currently I am also reading Marcel Proust's Rememberance Of Things Past which I have almost finished and is in places shockingly boring and in others amazingly beautiful. In a vaguely related way, most of the money I make, I make by selling books from a stall.
Writing
I am at present an unproven writer, in that I think I'm tolerably good at writing but haven't finished writing a book. I very occasionally attend the Brighton Science Fiction Writers Group, which is fairly entertaining. I am currently working on my debut novel and in my spare time I write short stories, some of which I may upload here one day.
Music
I am in a few bands, Poota, The Freebasing Freemasons, The Sexistentialists and any number of other bizzarely incestuous bands. I listen to a wide range of music, at present the chief examples are : Cracker - Garage D'or Pharcyde - Bizzare ryde II Steely Dan - Everything Must Go Herbie Hancock - Future Shock
Joyful Miscellany
I'm in a politically confused place at the moment, which is strange. I no longer have any real belief in the validity of Marxism and although the mainstream of the party is too, well, mainstream I am a Liberal Democrat. In that I am a Libertarian of sorts. It's difficult to explain.
This whole thing isn't purely about politics though, it's really about stuff that didn't fit elsewhere, like this : My handle on this site (and elsewhere) is a reference to excellent author P.G. Wodehouse and his character Psmith affixing Comrade to the names of all other characters while addressing them.
Other things I do : I like finding things I can eat in the wild and then eating them, I'm not very good at this. I play the ancient Chinese game of Go (or Igo, or Baduk, etc.), you know, the one in that Pi film. Again I'm not very good at it. I'm an Erisian (or Discordian, or...) in a fairly jokey way. Although I also mean it. I also practice one-upmanship, although I am pretty bad at it.
