But I am back now and it looks like you are still here...
Glad you had a good time despite the enevitable sadness for your wife, I know how she feels and it is always great to have someone there to boost your spirits (and not in a sort of way!)
Positive thinking for the New Year... any resolutions? Mine are to go on a hot air balloon ride and get a motorbike (but not at the same time!!). I believe resolutions should be positive not the usual negatives like giving up smoking or drinking

well hello there and yes here i am
Hot air balloon, blimey i get vertigo looking down at my feet, and you want to be a biker...damn is always popping up...lets try thats better.
I dont think i have ever made a new year resolution, i think if you want to do something then do it, you dont need a certain day to make that goal.
Whats work like, is it still ok or are you still off on hols
Any Advice?!
Muddling Through Posted Jan 2, 2007
I tend to agree with you about the resolution thing but it is good fun to think "what do I really want to do that I have been meaning to do for a long time" and decide I will definately do it before the year is out. Both of those things I have been saying for years I will do... I got my bike licence 8 years ago but still don't have the bike, the excuse has always been that I couldn't afford it but then I got made redundant... I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie and it's been a while since I have had a good buzz!
I am not actually on hols today, just not on shift. I am working late tomorrow. The job is interesting, the people are (with one exception) but they keep moving the goalposts and changing the T's and C's. I am still biding my time to see how things go now the shifts have started and what happens when I address the issues.

I feel jealous now, i want one
Are you allowed to ride any size bike, engine size i mean, with you licence...oh oh oh get one of those really fast ones that does 0-60 in about 2 seconds, you could visit me in Windsor in 10 minutes
Well at least you have an income to save for your bike
Any Advice?!
Muddling Through Posted Jan 2, 2007
I did a Direct Access course so yes, I can ride anything!!! It's been a while though so I am planning to do a refresher course and start with something that is not too much of a monster... give me a month and I'll be hankering after an 1100!!! I think I was a bit subtle with the redundancy comment - I don't have to save as I have the cash in the bank now - woo hoo!!!!!
So, you don't like heights... is there anything else you are not to keen on? I used to have a fear of heights (as opposed to vertigo) but I have managed to get rid of it by doing mad stuff (like abseiling). I always liked the Baz Lurman (class of '99) line "Do one thing everyday that scares you" so every morning I look in the mirror....!!!!

Cash in the bank.....spend spend spend
No i think its just heights, the family want to go abroad next year, ooops this year and the thought of a plane journey squeaky bum time, i said i would join them when the boat docks at port
I think years ago i didnt really care about flying, but now, i dont know why, but no thanks.
I still think there are some lovely place in England to visit yet
Any Advice?!
Muddling Through Posted Jan 2, 2007
Flying's a good thing it;s the crashing you want to avoid! Where do the family want to go? I have only ever flown once on a commercial flight but I loved it. The only other time I have flown I took off but didn't land - I jumped out at 13,000 feet
I am getting confused now... I am having a Skype conversation with a girl from work but I keep ringing her computer by mistake. Hitting the enter key on here is ok but on skype it just calls her and I can't work out how to change the settings ... oh dear, I am muddling through again!!!
Any Advice?!
Marmite Posted Jan 2, 2007

If you go to France you could go on the Eurostar!! you could always try playing the carbon emmissions card!!!!! I holidays in this country but mainly because I refuse to take out a loan, this year (as we now have the savings) we are hoping to go somewhere like the Bahamas which will be a first for us both.
Skype is an instant messaging thing where you can also telephone someone free via the internet. All new to me!!!
I want to go to Dorset now! but I am stuck working instead!
Any Advice?!

Bahamas ooooh nice and exotic
I am not really up on internet thingies, we have dial-up here but the kids have hassled me about going on broadband, so we are changing to that this month on BT
I think that we will prob go to Dorset this year again, we went to Weymouth last year and its such a lovely part of the country that it always draws me back again

A relaxing holiday is just what I need right now
I find technology changes so quickly these days I just think I know where I am and something new comes out and I am lost again!
It's been a while since I have been to Dorset but I spent a lot of time there as a kid. I am a big fan of Thomas Hardy so really enjoyed visiting his cottage and all the places he wrote about. Last time I went I stayed in a cottage in a village called Puncknowle (between Weymouth & Bridport) I just quaint old places.
Going to stare blankly at the TV now, brain not functioning due to bad night of insomnia followed by an early start this morning just waffling nonsense now...

I was working all weekend - I have to work 2 weekends in 5 and I am working the next one as well. Had yesterday off and am off on Thurs and Fri though so it is not too bad.
How about you?
Any Advice?!
Marmite Posted Jan 17, 2007
Working weekends always used to stuff up my life, i hated them, weekends were invented for partying, well that was years ago
Did sod all last weekend, it rained most of it, so apart from seeing Newcastle win against Spurs, it was a weekend that just passed by without really noticing it
Any Advice?!
Muddling Through Posted Jan 17, 2007
It’s not so bad working the weekend when I have so much time off elsewhere. I too no longer party (feeling old again!) I am working this evening but I am off then until Saturday at 3pm. Hubby is going to join me for a take-away during the evening.
Talking of hubby… his drinking has not crept up as quickly as it normally does. He has had alcohol free days at weekend and has not gone above 6 cans since the New Year. Maybe he is finally listening!
Any Advice?!

Probably a Chinese. My favourite is Indian but hubby is not too keen and it might make the office smell a bit!
What are you up to this weekend?
