*wipes brow* Well, AFAIC, LOTR is bloody brilliant, and it's way too long since I read it... about 20 years I think. And seeing as how people were mentioning other brilliant works of fiction, I've got to praise the Gormenghast trilogy by Mervyn Peake. Has it been made it into a tv series recently? I'm sure I read something about it a few days ago in a report about some awards ceremony or other. I'm very unhappy about missing that one - maybe it'll show up on PBS soon. And how the bloody hell are you all? s and es all round
