Funny feeling arm

I've had neuropathies before, and they just go away after a while. But this one is hanging around for longer than I care for.

There's this general feeling of weakness down pretty much my whole right arm. The small and ring fingers on the right hand are without any sensation to speak of. I can still move those fingers around ok, but I can't do anything meaningful with them as I don't know where they are in space without looking directly at them. And even if I do give them a task to do there's no strength there to actually get the task done - buttons are a bit of a problem; so is writing; and as for turning a key, well forget that!

There's no point going to the doctors because, one, I can never get an appointment and, two, they are never any bloody use when you do get to see them. Their cure all for *every* ailment is stop smoking, stop drinking, lose some weight and take more exercise. Pah! If I wanted to hear that I'd go talk to my mother.

The Great GreyDesk Driving Ban Challenge

So now that I've got the new car; well, a car that's new to me anyway.

And now that we know that it is phenomenally quick - 0 to 60 in 7.6 seconds with a top speed in the region of 140mph.

How long do people think it will be before I pick up another set of 3 points on my licence for going a 'tad' over the speed limit? Me, I give it about three weeks smiley - tongueout

Local festival thingy

Well that's the end of another 'Hanover Day'.

That's a local festival type of an affair that's organised by the church on my road in support of the local Community Centre. Yes, it has a bit of a Christian theme - it starts with one of the statues/icons from the church being paraded up and down the street. This is tempered a bit by the accompaniment being a bunch of 25 or so hippy looking folk beating out a funky tune on a load of drums and other percussion instruments. They do make a joyous racket, and would be guaranteed to wake one up if one was still sleeping; not least because they line up to start they're parade right outside of my front door.

It's definitely good fun. Musicians and bands and things. Then there are loads of stalls selling weird and wonderful shit - as one would expect in this city smiley - winkeye. Plus folk who take the opportunity to set out a stall ala car boot sale to get rid of their unwanted junk.

To hold the festival my road and the one parallel, plus most of the road running up the hill, are closed to traffic and all the cars are moved to where ever their owners can find a parking space. Actually this is one of the most fascinating things to me - my road without a car parked on it. When I went out early this morning there was just this bare tarmac with no cars anywhere. Very disconcerting indeed!
