So how is your bid to bankrup fairy liquid going?
Or do you have shares in the new crockery company?
Or are you waiting for some rubber gloves?

"Or are you waiting for some rubber gloves?"
I wasn't aware that Mina had been anywhere near this thread

Strangely, given my past record on the subject, having any unwashed dishes left in the sink sends absolutely ballistic.
I will shout and scream at my mother if she leaves one coffee mug with one teaspoon in the sink. Yet I'm quite happy to have piles and piles of dishes quietly going mouldy on the draining board and the work surfaces all around the kitchen.
Odd, I know

Merely practical - washing-up can wait until you've nothing clean left in the house, but you need the sink clear to drain stuff and stuff, no?

Precisely. Or drain the pasta for that matter
No, my sink is entirely empty and devoid of any item at almost all times. The washing up bowl is allowed in there only on sufferance because I don't have a plug that fits the plug hole.
