Oh - that's surprising - am I the only foreign-food-fan (if you'll excuse the alliteration Elwyn)?

Hi JT, you are certainly not the only curry lover, the only thing is I am not able to eat curry that is too hot (crippling pains for hours afterwards)
I also enjoy Italian,(not just Pizza),Spanish,Chinese, and Greek food.

Each to their own,my Mum and Dad both live in Spain most of the year but they both have a Sunday roast every week,Dad says it's the best meal of the week.

actually i forgot about pizza and chinese food, both of which are rather good. i have no idea what greek food is.

Whamster Posted Jun 28, 2005
If you go for a Greek meal be prepared to sit at the table for a very long time, there will be at least ten courses, none of which are so large as to put you off trying the next course.
The variety is wonderful from cold soups to mince wrapped in cabbage leaves,it is a journey for your tastebuds, and don't forget the uzzo

i think you mean ouzo because i have tried that over here and it is disgusting. i may have been to greece in my travels but i don't recall the food being very unusual. although there was an incident with a veal chop but i don't want to go into that.

lol, yes I did mean ouzo but can't spell. this goes back to "each to their own" another of my favorite tipples is Pernod so maybe it's the taste thing with me?

my favourite drink is Delmonte's kiwi juice but i have never tried it with alcohol in. yet. part of the reason i like it is that it is a sickening shade of green and whenever i am drinking it people always comment on how much it looks like dirty pond water.

Galigan Posted Jun 28, 2005
the thing is there is only one shop i know of that sells it and that is back home. luckily whenever i am at home my mum buys me lots of it.
you know i might use that name, "dirty pond water". could have just created a new cocktail.

Yes I bet it would taste very nice with a drop of Southern Comfort, which you may or may not know has a wonderful fruity taste.
The League Tearoom
Galigan Posted Jun 28, 2005
actually i didn't but i will make a point of trying it.
*looks around* hmmm...
i know what this place needs. a toaster! and a large supply of pop tarts! wait there...

Galigan Posted Jun 28, 2005
s back in with a toaster and a wheelbarrow of pop tarts and a loaf of fread.
ah, here we go.
*plugs in toaster and puts 2 pop tarts in it.*
*stares avidly at the tarts in the toaster*

Galigan Posted Jun 28, 2005
ok before you start i meant loaf of bread. that wasn't a mis-spelling it was a mis-type. toast anyone?
*eats pop tart*

Actually, I can't think of anything more "foreign" to my palate than Pop Tarts!
You're right about Greece though, Galigan. When you're out there, the grub doesn't seen too adventurous (unless you go for squid soup or something) - mostly cosisting of lamb, onions and tomatoes in various combinations.
I ended up with a dish called Stifado three nights running whilst in Corfu. I tried Kleftiko on the forth night, but it was just Stifado with less tomatoes in a different dish.
Having said that, there are some great things on a Meze platter and I just love Retsina!
Have we got any behind the bar?

Of course, I meant "seem" and "consisting", but failed to proof read before posting.
I take it we have all been on the receiving end of some criticism in this area, or witnessed that bestowed upon others!
