I've been a mom for so long - I think I forgot how to be single. I think I need to brush up. Do you know anywhere that offers classes on "How to be single again after you've been a single-mom and you've forgotten that there is an opposite sex and what are they here for and where they are, and when did they stop making cat calls at you when you walk down the street and what do you mean that even with working out that its not going to get any more buff?"

I don't know about classes but can't you get away for a bit and remember life pre-kids? Maybe leave em with some poor unsuspecting family member (usually my role, strangely enough)..

*lightly steams some white asparagus and tosses it in a reduced balsamic herb glaze then gives it to a flonkey to take to the buffet table*

Well... thank goodness - I only have one child! And she just turned 13, so she currently only needs me for my money. And we live with my mom....

Pathetic really isn't it! Actually - it's not that bad. We don't actually "live" with my mom. My mom and I bought a house together after my dad died 6 years ago. So we do live with her, but she doesn't support us or anything...

Hmmm... I suspect that part of this realization I've had this weekend is homonally induced... Damn those hormones! - Trying to trip us poor defenseless women up every chance they get!

(eats more chocolate) TAKE THAT YOU HORMONES!

Actually I understand the living with your mom when your dad died. I did the same thing. When my dad was dying I was living in a flat and decided to postpone renewing my lease until after my dad died in case my mom needed me. It was a good thing too as she couldn't deal with the thought of living in a big empty house alone so I moved in that same night then had my stuff put in storage.

Take advantage of your built in babysitting and plan some time alone. Maybe travel somewhere festive. Either all by yourself or visit somewhere where you know people. Or maybe just get involved with something that promises meeting new people like toastmasters or something.

*ding dong*

Oh well I'm here now... may as well leave these here and go for a stroll in the park, I could do with some air...

I never even knew there was a degree in "toastology"!

*starts on the sweets for the party, making little bite-sized cheesecakes in a variety of flavors: marbled cheesecake dipped in dark chocolate, lemon cheesecake with strawberries on top, amaretto cheesecake with dark cherries in sauce dripping over the top, etc. plus fresh fruits, cookies and cakes*
