Alas! As with many tragedy's that happen as such, many questions are asked and answers take time to discover - what/why/how etc etc.

I don't know what caused the electrical failure, but the crew did the right thing. Nobody was on that bridge when it went down except for a crew filling potholes.

I still don't know why they had to put up a continuous through truss bridge there - and why, if they did, they neglected to put big enough dolphins around the supports.

You're right, they will learn from this. And other bridges will be better-protected.

As with any unforeseen incidents due to past constructure's that don't "comply" with today's standards etc, these incidents will happen
and do - worldwide

Yesterday was nice, even though it was cloudy and chilly. My sister and her husband were alone at the farm - the 'kids' went to visit their kids - so they invited us and a couple from the church. We had a good meal and a good talk.

Everybody was tired out from all the Holy Week services and whatnot.

I went out and got video of the farm animals.

Yes, the timeout has been showing up quite a bit today. But if you refresh the screen, it usually goes away. Trust me: I've been putting up next week's Post page and it did it a lot, but I got through. Right now, I'm testing a page for 15 April and it's been doing it again, but it's okay if you persist. (It's something to do with the Cloudflare thingy, which we don't control.)

Rivers around here are okay right now, but we've been getting rain again all day. It reminds me of something my sister told me on Sunday. One year, the ice on the Allegheny got so backed up that it MOVED the low bridge in the nearby town.

When they put up the new bridge they put a metal ice cutter on the bottom of it.
