smiley - rofl You're right! I've seen your parliament and it's a weird free-for-all. At least nobody has actually been in a fistfight in Congress for about a 150 years - though back in 1850, one guy put the other guy in hospital.

Yes, both institutions need updating. Alas, it won't happen soon enough.

I'm sorry, I've got to go before my dinner gets cold. You have a good night! smiley - hugsmiley - run

"cheeky" smiley - biggrin"we" have a saying over here:- Everything's big in America.

(copied bbc news)

Giant redwoods - the world's largest trees - are flourishing in the UK and now even outnumber those found in their native range in California.
The giants were first brought to the UK about 160 years ago, and a new study suggests they are growing at a similar rate to their US counterparts.
An estimated 500,000 trees are in the UK compared to 80,000 in California.

However they aren't yet as tall. In California they can reach 90m-high, but in the UK the tallest is 54.87m.
But that's because the introduced trees are still very young. Giant redwoods can live for more than 2,000 years, so there's still plenty of time for the UK's trees to catch up

smiley - sadfacesmiley - sadfaceI "see" on one of our news programs, that 2 of your States have had tornado's hit them ?
Are they in the "tornado alley" area ?

Yeah, I was following a lady on Twitter who I think lives in Ohio - they had a lot of tornado activity there last night.

We missed it - although we had rain. Coming home after ten pm last night, we saw lightning. (We were out late because the kids had a musical over at the small-town high school. They had a blast and my great-nephew stole the show with a 'bad-boy' part. smiley - laugh)

There are several 'tornado alleys' in the US. In the Midwest (last night), and further midwest in Kansas and Oklahoma. Also down in Mississippi (we were only safe in Memphis because it's on a bluff). And in North Carolina, where we used to live. I remember one night a tornado touched down in my parents' town and took the steeple off a church, about a mile or so from their house.

Around here, the mountains break them up - but we get microbursts. Hoggetts have had a few of those. Couple of bizarre trees to prove it.

One time, Sis said, they all went into the cellar because of a tornado. She looked outside and saw a tornado coming up the road. It SPLIT IN TWO and passed on both sides of the farm!
