It's really warm today. I should know. We walked over half a mile each way to vote in the primary. I should have worn fewer layers of clothes. I was sweating when I got home.

They have touch-screen voting here. With a keyboard menu for write-ins. It's all high-tech.

Well, that's about North Carolina - okay, it's something like a test paper and you make little ovals - but this is amazing.

They checked you out in the book, you ID yourself and sign. Then you get an 'access card', and you stick that in the machine to get into the ballot.

what bugs me is:- all the years I went to school - learnt to read/write etcand THEN it comes to voting and all they want is a bloody "X" all that time I could have been playing out

That's true. Although you have to be able to read all the lies they print.

We went about 1.30 pm. There was hardly anybody there. And only two campaigners outside.

Primary elections. Nobody shows up.

since thatcher, we seem to have a mass voting apathy many as we've no party that speaks for the common man any moreand none can be trusted (they all eat out of the same trough)

Our primary's just to pick candidates for November. And let them close that traffic court in Philadelphia.

Yeah. There's too much of that about. But you know what? I've just been reading what Davy Crockett said about Jackson and Van Buren, and it wasn't any better then.

He said if Van Buren got elected, he would go to Texas, because leaving the country would be better than living in the USA under that lot. (Texas wasn't part of the US then, it was part of Mexico.)

I've just read the report of Crockett's speech in the House against making the Indians move - now THERE was a man. Why don't we have people like him again? I'd vote for Davy Crockett.
