in the "old" days , I'd sometimes get up in the middle of the night and cook a sirloin steak/chips/peas and onion rings - next day mam would say you've been cooking a "late" supper again eh

Today, we just had sandwiches over at the church - bring your own. And lots of good conversation, nice people.

where my local pub was, there was a fish and chip shop at the end of the streetI've eaten fish/chips on the way home. Put the paper in the dustbin and THEN made sandwiches when I got in

My dad kind of did things like that.

We'd just get the dishes done, and he was in making a sandwich. Which didn't help if we were trying to get him to lose weight...

dad was 8am to the second, breakfast/12noon to the second, dinner and 5pm teatime and would start an argument with mam if she came home a few minutes aftershe was the personnel officer at a sweet factory and "finished" work at 5pm - THAT was no excuse to dad
