Hi everyone
Just thought I'd drop you all a quick note before heading off on my Christmas hols (unfortunately I'm not going anywhere exotic smiley - sadface ). Thought it might be an idea to leave my mobile number as a contact in case anyone does get lost on the 6th [Address removed by moderator]
(not sure what will happen if the person who gets lost is me...)
Anyway, I'll keep dropping into h2g2 as well over the next few weeks so feel free to give me a ring if you want to chat over any ideas.

I was thinking that one of the things we could do when we meet up is to record video introductions from us all in suitably picturesque parts of George Square - kind of 'your h2g2 guides in Glasgow will be...' kind of thing. Much fun to be had methinks.

Ah that will be why I couldn't see a big red building in the centre of George Square earlier today.
Just a statue as I thought.

Lyns, if you are the one that gets lost on the day in Glasgow, feel free to utilize the following number: [Address removed by moderator] That there is my mobile number, and this time I promise that I will not forget to recharge the battery before I leave for the meet.smiley - smiley
And I'd also like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy christmas holiday.

On the picture posting issue, I will not post any links to any pictures, unless they are of EV. He may retaliate by posting pics of me, but that matters not. smiley - smiley

So, to recap, one o'clock Saturday, 6th January, Counting House on George Square. From there to be recorded (dahling) and to point at things in a "That would be a good thing to talk about" kind of way before sloping of to a different pub to ensure I feel very ill on the train the folowing day. Woo hoo, should be a laugh smiley - biggrin

That is the subject of the caption competition. Why not enter with your suggestion and you could win an H2G2 T-Shirt.

£6.40 for another beer, it was in London after all. But don't bother using that as a caption, I've already done it. smiley - smiley

Hey, I was just curious to know. I've already got an H2G2 t-shirt. Why would I need two? I can only wear one at a time anyways, right?

Not necessarily... it can get pretty cold at this time of year.

Tell me about it. We've got a two-bedroom apartment (two bedrooms, lounge, kitchen hall and bathroom) with two radiators that doesn't give off much heat. So I know it can get cold. My flat mate sleeps more or less fully dressed under two duvets.

So you see, an extra t-shirt could come in useful. I rest my case.

I used to live in one of those as a student. We bought a little mobile gas heater to help, then my flatmate fell asleep with his feet up on it and his boots melted and stuck to his feet. Numpty!

My point in telling you that incredibly uninteresting trivia was that an extra T-shirt would be to no help whatsoever, since it's so cold that you would need a sweat shirt to stand it. That is, of course, if you are my flat mate. I, on the other hand, am naturally insulated, so I can take it. smiley - smiley

I thought it was going to be Bennetts when I saw the subject. Strangely enough I was thinking that The Counting House would be a good place and pretty unmissable being at the West SouthWest corner of George Square and having having doors on two sides. I might even have a pic of it somewhere. Wait a minute, I think you can see it on Glasgow's webcam. BBS

Ignore the skating rink, it vanishes on Xmas eve.

As for the great plan to lie to more people about how good Glasgow is, bah humbug!

I'll see if I can find a pic of the Counting House, but it might be an idea to meet in one of the recesses facing onto George Square as it's huge. You can wander for days trying to find where you left that woman you were sitting with....or is that just me?
