Bust
Posted Aug 13, 2007
Today has been a nice warm bright August day, but I saw a sight in the st Nicholas kirkyard this afternoon which has had me singing 'June in bustin' out all over' ever since.
Actually, today has been more of a mild early-autumn day. There was a touch of crispnedd about the air, and the light is beginning to take on an autumnal quality. FurthermoreI saw some horse chestnuts on the on the cobbles at Old Aiberdeen.
I did a spot of invigilating this morning. The Americans call it 'proctoring', apparently. Then i had cawfee with my Prof - he started marking the 'early leaver' scripts during the exam, and at one point leaned over to check a case with me - Rafique v Amin, a 1997 Common Property case. Luckily I remembered about it from my recent readings.
I got left in charge of the Property Law candidates for an hour or so, and exercised my authority to its petty maximum by allowing two student sto go to the toilet. Aye, seperately, mind.
Then I went in to town, where I saw the aforementioned bustin' out June (or Karen, or Morag, or whatever). I shlepped aroung the charity shops looking for a replacement for my defunct living room chair. I had a bacon & brie baguette (I was 5p short on the frice for an apple cheesa and walnut extravaganza).
I got home to find out that I've been cited as a witnedd in the prosecution arising out of the assault Susan and I witnessed the week before last. So has Susan.

FM MP3
Posted Aug 12, 2007
We bought one of those 'play your MP3 player thru' your FM radio' thingummies.
Susan now has 12 or so hours worth of spy/crime radio to listen to in the car.
Mial kil'd another mouse last night.
The Sunday shopping has been done.
We went to the international market on Union Terrace. Susan bought me an incense burner box.
I am invigilating tomorrow morning.
It has been a warm but overcast day in Aiberdeen.
My big leather recliner armchair died last night - probably long before, in fact: it hadn't been comfy to sit in for ages, and was murder getting up out of. I'll have to get a new chair - not easy, cos' I need sturdy and non-foam/MDF.
Susan and I are listening to R7's Old Curiosity Shop at the minute. The Quilp is splendid - Phil Daniels or Andy Hamilton, methinks. Not Ken Campbell.

Lazy
Posted Aug 11, 2007
It has been a beautiful hot sunny day in Aiberdeen. The temperature must have been approaching 30C just after lunch-time. I sat out in the back garden all afternoon in a flowery top and flip-flops, reading a Joanna Trollope while listening to Katherine Jenkins on the I-pod while sipping iced mint tea. I even managed to get a bit of a tan. Other than that I haven't strayed away from the house - I haven't even bothered with the Saiturday bale (the Mail, Hello, OK and the TV Times.) I'm poaching some salmon at the minute, for tea, with a pine nut & cucumber pilaf and a nice bottle of sancerre. It's still warm enough for us to have our tea outside, in the summerhouse, with candles.

Faffing
Posted Aug 10, 2007
I have spent the day faffing about. I did cut the grass, though. Sausages for tea, and, later on, Quatermass and the Pit. The backie is hoachin' with eight year-old girls again, and a couple of boys, who have been allowed to watch the dance routines. It has been a warm still but dull-ish day in Aiberdeen. Susan will be home from work soon...
It is after 6, and I still haven't had my shower. Miah is just waking up.

Berlin Wall

Our downstairs neighbour bought his eight years old a four wheeled Suzuki mini bike. She has been roaring up and down the backmgardwen on it all week. Today she drove it through our downstairs and opposite neighbours back fence aka Stallag Luft XV. Her father was fixing it, "Luckly, not much damage was done" he said. I patted her on the head and said better luck next time.

The tooth I had fixed a fortnight ago broke in a different place last week was fixed today and this will be its last fix. New dentist was treated to tale of last extraction. Poor lassie. A day wandering round town fortified with anti-inflams and pain killers. Looking for a FM transmitter for a MP3 player in the car. Douglas has found some speech downloads I would like to listen to. Visited all the charity shops (one CD and a good anglepoise lamp). Pint of Guiness then home.
