Vout

Today has been another braw early-October day. Bright and bonny, maybe a bit chill but stillplenty of sunshine. Susah went to Elgin with her mother today - I'm still waiting for her to get back. Miah got into a loud fight/standoff at 6.30 and that was me up for the day. I went in to town to look for an armchair, and found one but didn't have £££s for it or the means to get it home. I'll try again on Saturday, and hope that it hasn't been sold in the meantime. Sausages 'n mash for tea, and some black & tans for later on.

I met one of my fellow students in town this morning. We had cawfee. He has his viva tomorrow, and Dagesh has bought some champers to celebrate immediately thereafter.

Let's see - I've cut the grass and done the washing. Miah got kicked out at 3. Susan shouldn't be too long...

We watched The Haunting last night. It is a film that stands alongside The Innocents and the BBC's MR James christmas ghost stories as true spine-chillers, rather than buckets of blood SFX extravaganzas. I like ghost stories - I don't think for a second that ghosts exist but I still believe in them, if you know what I mean (in the same way that I believe in zombies werewolves vampires &c &c).

Misery

J'ai mal aux dents, j'ai mal au tete aussi (to adapt the lyric by Faust - http://www.faust-pages.com/music/jai.mal.mp3 ).

Och! I have a right sore head, which I think is a side effect from my BP meds.

My teeth are also playing up, in spite of yesterday's treatment. I feel miserable. Eating brings on horrible pain - well, not horrible; minor and unpleasant is more like it - and I'm sitting hugging a hot water bottle to my face and constantly rinsing out my mouth with luke-warm tap water - it works for a while, then I've got to change it. I was drinking it, but, 20 pints later, decided that spit was better than swallow.

I have just written a 'work' report, but I could barely focus on what I was doing. Concentration was impossible.

Still, I managed to sleep OK last night.

I have an appointment to see my GP on Friday.

Pasta'n sauce for tea, but I'm dreading having to eat it.

I wonder if I'll be able to go to sleep if I crawl off to bed?

Dentist

I had a filling replaced and a tooth treated with nail varnish (at least, that's what it smelt like - it was a coating to desensitise the tooth).

Pie 'n mash for tea.

My sore head is hanging around. I've arranged to see my GP - I think that it may be a side-effect from the BP meds. The teeth are still sore - unhappy with the prodding around they've had, doubtless. Miah is down in the mouth, and has an open (but clean, and - hopefully - healing) wound on the top of her head.

So then, Susan is probably the healthiest and fittest of the three of us at the minute, and that's a turn-up for the books.

Shopping. Sore teeth. Sore head.

There's a great big fat baldie beardie guy coming down the steps just outside our window. He makes me look like Twiggy (which is, by the way, me showing my age.)

I saw this:

Hmmmmm...

Hummus for tea.

Miah is still subdued. She objects to having pills administered. My tactic is to shofe the pill into her mouth then hold it closed, while tapping her nose with my thumb - she is only to focus upon one indignity at a time, and has to swallow as soon as the starts sneezing and snottering...

Vet

Miah got two injections - an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory. She didn't behave too badly. Miah got seen at the back of 9 - Susan dumped me at the vet's at 8, and I sat on the doorstep in the rain. I took Miah home, then went back into town for cawfee &c.

Roast pork for tea.

Thassorl.
