Name and shame

Another occasional series.

To kick of - US drug company Eli Lilly who, it's reported on CNN, have decided to limit supplies to Canada to try and stop Americans from crossing the border and buying cheaper (in other words affordable) drugs.

Shame on you Eli Lilly. In this Researcher's opinion you represent everything that's bad about big business and about big drug companies for doing that.

Yum

I made a rich fruit cake yesterday - the first one I think I've made since I got to Texas. I left it for so long because I couldn't find a decent cake tin, but then I thought whatthehell, I'll just use a bread tin.

You're supposed to let those things mature for at least a week but I've already eaten close to a quarter of it smiley - blush. I guess I'll have to make another one tomorrow so that it'll have matured for a couple of days - I should have this one finished by Sunday smiley - tongueout

Another view

And one which so far has had little coverage here in the US.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/truth/

If you haven't already seen this programme (or aren't able to because it was shown on American tv), I urge you to do so online. It'll probably be difficult if you have a slower pc and a dial-up connection, particularly since it's 90 minutes in length but please make the effort.

If I wasn't already as against the war as I possibly could be, this would have convinced me how wrong it was, how appallingly the American government has behaved, and how badly American soldiers are dealing with it. I almost wish that I was either still in the UK or was a US citizen, because this programme has motivated me to get out there and make my voice heard, express my disgust. Since my green card is still pending however, I think it would be best if I confine my protests to spreading the word in this manner for now.

If any of you in the UK have seen something similar on British tv I'd be very keen to know if it can be watched online, or to be told details of its content.

Erm...

I seem to have lost all interest in h2g2 smiley - erm I'm even having trouble working up the motivation to go into PR and find my last pick for this month, which is already a week overdue.

When I signed up, and for a year or two afterwards, there was something different about this place - something really special, but now it feels like just another web community. Crammed with meaningless chat and little originality. It's content has been dumbed down by the masses and it's almost impossible to find any good new stuff of the same calibre as before smiley - sadface
