Well, I started the first page of this thread, then skipped to the last one. My time is precious, you know.
I think I'll just have to stay confused for now. I've coped fairly well with it for the last thirty-something years, after all.

Confusion = good and a pretty normal state! One of my favourite songs at the moment is Confusion by the Zutons Oh and we are going to be doing Alan Ayckbourne's Confusions at the theatre soon

And have you any idea how much you'd piss off Jim Lynn if you tried to put the entire OED in your name?

I'm not sure on the specifics, but I think that the limits are 128 characters in a name, 256 smileys or around 300,000 characters in a post.

Of course the smileys limit can be circumvented if one posts characters that aren't smileys yet, but get turned into smileys at a later date. I'm thinking of course of the Campaign for the Football Smiley thread, where I broke the character limit with thousands of < football >. Then when the football smiley appeared, that thread suddenly became *very* resource intensive. In fact I dare not go back and view it in case I overload a server or two
