Pretty damn cold now, mostly because of the wind. At last, it feels autumnal

Only one fun-loving degree above freezing here in Austin, and several degrees below in surrounding areas It hasn't been this cold since February, which I'm guessing would be the snow day, two days after which it was 70F and that was the beginning of summer

Yes, I was waiting for autumn, and got winter instead (which is quite alright). Thanksgiving was beautiful, Black Friday shopping was shorts and tee-shirts and near 70. Front came through Saturday night at exactly 5:15 - not one of those gradual weather changes. I heard rumors there were snow flurries Sunday night, and there was ice on the deck this morning when I left for work.

Yay!

It was between 37° and 40° for my ride in to work this morning. It'll be in the low to mid 60's this afternoon. I think this season I'll be a bit less avid about riding in the cold weather as I have been in the past. I think I'll make 35° my cutoff point. It's not that I'm that averse to riding in the colder weather; I just need to drive my car more often. With the drought, I doubt if I brought my car into work more than two dozen days all year. It's a 14 year old Subaru with only 90k miles on it. That's neglect.

For a Subaru that *is* neglect! I'm surprised the factory hasn't tried to revoke your ownership privledges.

We've got our first sub-zero temperatures since February forecast for Monday and Tuesday nights. Getting up in the morning is going to difficult all next week

There are few things as bleak as a grey, wet, cold, urban Sunday afternoon. It's the grimmest time of the whole week, especially around 5pm. But, at least we've had a good amount of rain since Friday (1.72" and more to come), and it looks like they've warmed the forecast up by a few degrees for the middle of the week. Still going to be no fun getting up in the morning.

It's officially this morning, the officiating authority being Mother Nature. There's frost on the rooves and on the cars and it's 28F/-2.2C at 7.40am.

We squeaked by just above freezing this morning at 33°F.

A few degrees warmer outside this morning, still below freezing, but it feels much warmer in the apartment than it did this time yesterday. I don't get it.

Apparently we did freeze night before last (and again last night, of course). My dad found his make shift bird bath frozen solid.

Houston airport recorded sub-freezing temperatures both nights, but I'm guessing they're away from the main urban areas, like Austin airport is.

Not really... You underestimate the urban sprawl of Houston. Go to google maps and look up "Bush Intercon'l" and "Hobby Airport" then zoom out a bit on each. Houston Intercontinental, (I never call it "Bush" myself) is near some green areas but Hobby is right in the middle of sprawlburbia. I've heard from pilots that the easiest way to spot an airport from the sky is not to look for the runway lights, but to look for the relative absence of lights.

Metropolitan Houston is more than 75 miles across.

Fog! And it seems like it's getting thicker. There are things I can't see now that I could when I opened the blinds about 45 minutes ago.

Same here. Into the low 70s in the middle of the week, and more rain, but once again the storms are likely to happen the middle of the damn night! Tired of being woken up by thunder at 3am

LOVE rain at night! Even storms, unless they're severe (the perils of living in a "mobile" home. They're only moblie when tornadoes pick them up and set them elsewhere ).

I wouldn't mind it so much if I didn't already have so many problems with insomnia In fact, I quite liked it when I lived in an attic room with a skylight, in Manchester many moons ago

This morning we've got more fog!

Foggy here as well. Ten degrees warmer than yesterday at dawn and very, very foggy. I hate riding in the fog.

The NWS just released a dense fog advisory for Galveston county in effect until 10:00 am Wednesday. It's worse now than it was this morning. Not looking forward to the ride home.
