I only made it like that because the silly system made me another account when I signed in earlier and I would like to merge them together, I change back to my user-name once the two accounts are together smiley - smiley

I hear that the front came through around 2am but I don't see any plunge in the temperatures around that time. But we're currently (10am) sitting at about 62F. This time yesterday we were already well into the 70s.

It was noticeable here. Before dawn, the temps were a bit warmer than they are now and the cloud cover was scattered. I actually went through a very small patch of rain on the bike this morning; maybe a quarter mile or so. After dawn, around 7:30ish, the cloud cover was full grey and the winds were starting to pick up. Now it's quite clear and very windy.

Damn chilly here this morning, comparatively speaking. We didn't quite make it down into the 40s in Austin, as forecast, but several places in the region did and one or two got down into the 30s smiley - brr

Yesterday was the first day since... I can't remember when, probably April, maybe even March, that I haven't switched on the a/c, and similarly, the first time I had to put the duvet on the bed.

The smiley - biker ride in to work today was... what's the word?... The opposite of scorchio... It's been so long I've forgotten.

Oh, yea... smiley - brr

smiley - laugh

It was truly smiley - brr when I was waiting at the bus stop earlier (8.15am), and even standing in the sunshine I wasn't feeling warm. Must have had an effect on me because when I got to supermarket and walked around the fruit & veg dept I felt an urge to buy Brussels sprouts. So I did.

An hour later on the way home and it's starting to warm up quite pleasantly. Gonna open all the windows now smiley - biggrin

Our coldest reading for five months - 45°F/7.2°C. May 4th was the last time we touched that temperature. If it gets any colder I'm going to have to switch the heater on in the morning when I get up and before I get into the shower. Six months worth of dust sitting on those heating elements.

It would be wonderfully pleasant outside if they didn't keep the A/C so cold in this building. It always takes a few days for the climate control to catch up.

They might want to leave it on for a few more days yet. Our eight-day forecast has us pushing 90 again next week smiley - headhurts Then another big cold front comes in and drops our daytime temperatures down to the low 70s smiley - biggrin

But I want some autumn, damframmit smiley - cross I'm hardwired to expect cold mornings (perhaps even a frost), a storm or two, streets and gardens full of blowing leaves, skeins of geese and flocks of birds flying south, shrubs and bushes full of all kinds of berries, kids going to school wrapped up in their winter togs and a general feeling of holing up for a winter indoors at this time of the year. Yeah, I know I'm living in a sub-tropical zone, not a warm temperate, but this summer just goes on and on and on and on and on and on *fade to black*

Went to work this morning and left the window open, came back this evening to find the fan on the PC going 19 to the dozen and the thermostat reading over 80. The a/c's back on smiley - sadface

The PC fan may not be related to the temperature. One of my work computers does this after start up occasionally. I don't know what causes it. It could be a faulty switch on the case or dust or something.

It's deffo the ambient temperature. Speeds up when the room's uncomfortably warm, slows down when it's, er, comfortably room temperature. It's the CPU fan btw, not the case fan.

Three more days of temperatures close to 10° above normal (upper 80s, even a 90... in October?) before a cold front takes the heat away and gives some *below* average temperatures smiley - bigeyes Maybe *then* the heat will abate and the local weather will recognise what time of the year it is and summer is a long way behind us.

With the brief batch of heavy rain we had a couple of weeks ago, the mosquitoes have come out in force. One managed to follow me all the way into my office. It just made the mistake of hovering between me and my monitor. smiley - applause >SPLAT<... Dead Mosquito.

Speaking of which, I should think about updating my mozzie article.

I wake up with bites every damn morning smiley - cross

Meanwhile, we're back in bloody June again. 88 yesterday, similar temperatures forecast for today and tomorrow, but now they're saying that the cold front (why do they always come through in the night?) will drop us down to 60 on Thursday before warming up again to the 70s for the weekend, and then 81 next Tuesday.

Let the record show that this morning, at about 6.50am on October 20th, I put the heater on for the first time since... early April? And was surprised at the lack of burning dust smell that came out of the vents.
